One gets stopped at night..and the officer knows prior to that stop what race the driver is??? I do not believe that one bit. I do not know of anyone who can tell who is driving in front of them, behind them or approaching them at night. Maybe if you were lucky and stopped at a street light, with the windows rolled down, you could positively identify ones race.

Now if you were to be pulled over by the same officer, ask for their badge number and name and then go speak to their sgt if you think you were so injustly stopped. Make sure to get the badge and name, otherwise you will be doing the same thing as you alledged the police are doing, which is discriminating against all police for this one officer's actions.

It's unfortunate that you have had so many problems. Of course with every profession there are the bad apples in the bunch (which you seem to have found) that do not do their job properly. Whether it be a movie theatre worker not cleaning the aisles TO the carpenter that puts in cheaper products OR the hotdog vendor at SkyDome that rip you off just because you are inside the building(targeted me b/c I'm a sports fan)
*********
On another note of unfairness. My parents have lived here all their life (66and61yrs), and recently retired (good for them) and they have pensions etc...however they collect old age security and CPP for a total of $2200 together (which is good) BUT in the Toronto Star about 3 mths ago landed immigrants waiting to be accepted in C'da receive $2400 each....NOW where is the fairness of paying dues all your life into the system???????? to support the incoming free loaders??
***********
I agree with you there are vast discrepancies, however it is everywhere in our society, it does not just relate to police. Every walk of life, level of income, location of residence all have their own issues and should be all treated equally without bias.

ok mooseboy you must have a problem reading... get your facts straight... I WAS NOT STOPPED AT NIGHT

read my first post... I was stopped at 3:45PM ... meaning broad daylight.... and I have absolutely no tint so YES he can see into my car if right next to me.... and this happended on friday which happened to be a clear, sunny warm day.. perfect hunting grounds

Oh yea and complain to is supervising officer... not a bad idea... but even that comes with a catch... not that i wouldnt do it... but I also consider the cop and his buddies making my life more miserable whenever in this area because i went to his SO... its happened to a friend of mine in scarborough

and for Civic01: No i wouldnt feel the same way if i was actually speeding and got stopped... because that would just be the officer doing his job. I Have been stopped for speeding and never once complained about it... Cuz i knew i was speeding and i just got caught...

look guy, there are many reasons why he may have pulled you over.
one of your passengers could have been looking around in the back and the cop thought he may have been looking at him... yes if you keep looking at a cop he is going to wonder why you are so interested in him... are you guilty of something?
sure maybe because you are tamil. i will not beat around the bush here.. because the vvt and ak kannon (or however you spell it) have brought their civil war to our country and have showed that thye do not mind extreme violence and have no repsect for anyone... you are more of a target for "spot checks". maybe accept it with a smile, maybe write a letter, maybe try to stop the gangs in your community... either way its going to happen.
maybe it has to do with the initiative that metro cops are undertaking to get uninsured drivers off the road. they are now hooked up to CPIC and are checking license plates on a regular basis while cruising the streets... they can check pretty much every car they can see. when yours came up as ottawa and you are young (maybe race came into play here) he decided to check to see if its a stolen car..
either way, was he rude to you in any way?
did he make any disparaging remarks?
did he treat you poorly?
maybe he was just doing his job, and the fact that he checked you out in your driveway and that he pulled you over were just a coincidence. he does come into contact with lots of people every day, and probably doesnt remember you.

you clown, the vvt and ak kannan have been dispanded for almost a decade now... the police know this and you were informed about anything you would know it has nothing to do with the civil war back in SL.

The SL civil war is Tamil Tigers(LTTE) against SL government(majority Sinhala)... the VVT and AK KANNAN are both tamil gangs... it has NOTHING to do with anything back home... it was started up here and ENDED here. There is no vvt anymore... there is no ak kannan any more... all of them are either married with kids or were deported. Im not gonna lie and say there is no organized crime left. But there is in any community. I could name italians, asyrians, blacks, whites, polish, south american etc etc.

There are now small pockets of younger tamil gangs around toronto, just like black ppl, asyrians, indians, spanish ppl and white ppl.

Get your facts straight before you go shooting your mouth off. Dont come to me with some idiotic story you've heard..

i was just talking to a tamil co-worker about this last week, and according to him... both gangs are still active. i'm sorry i took the word of someone similar to you and treated it as gospel... should i believe him or you?
you asked for opinions so i gave them. whether i am right or wrong they are opnions that the cop may have had... that is why i went out on a limb and "speculated".
if you dont want people to try to look into the mind of someone thay have never met and give you a reason for being pulled over then off and dont ask! pretty simple eh?

"In Toronto, there are about 200,000 Tamils. But fewer than 100 are involved in Toronto street gangs, police say. That 0.05 per cent of the population feeds the racism and misconceptions the general public has about Toronto's Tamil community, various leaders complain.

``It's street violence, it's a criminal community, not the Tamil community."

"Toronto police now downplay any connections between Toronto's street violence and the civil war in the members' homeland.

The fact of the matter is people aren't involved in drive-by shootings in Toronto to further a cause back in Sri Lanka,'' an organized crime officer said"

These were taken from various articles... if you want sources pm me and ill email them to you.

Id personally like to see how many articles you can get regarding vvt and ak kannan crime activity since the year 2000.

if you are telling the truth(highly doubt) about your co-worker... then he is just as un-informed... you see i grew up with vvt guys... you dont need to believe me... do some research into their current activity.

If you even talk to law enforcement today, they will even admit to you that there isnt much emphasis on vvt or kannan anymore... though like i said earler there are still pockets of organized crime like there are in other ethnic communities... DONT TAKE MY WORD OR YOUR CO-WORKERS WORD AS GOSPEL... take it from research and experience

Have you ever been investigated for any crime or any other investigation, whether you were a suspect or a witness? Because if you were, and it could be from years ago, you WILL show up on CPIC.

Be ready for the next time . Have pen and paper in glove box. Buy a cheapie little memo recorder. Make sure the cops sees that you have it turned on . Ask him why he pulled you over and for his name , number and his superior officers name. State the date time , light , dark, raining etc. The road you are on direction travelled . What you were doing when you were pulled over , or questioned by cop. Put this info into recorder when standing right next to cop. So you can say on tape your doing it right in frt of him.If he wants to look in trunk , sure , say you want to watch cause you have personal belongings in there, stand right beside him. Tape what hes doing , like now hes looking around the spare tire area, no nothing there, . And if he misses a spot , like one of those little side compartments , point it out to him on tape and say , Arent you going to look in there. ( Just make sure your stash isnt in there). If anything is said about the recorder , just say you took some legal advice, and were told to get as much info as you could.

you all know as much as I know... that a brown guy with a bunch of black guys in a civic will get stopped any day over an older caucasion guy driving any other car... what a socially equal society I live in... someone used the term hunch, hmm... its a fairly specifically targeted hunch... cuz me and my friends must have criminal records.. and of course we have little baggies of weed on us...also probably been arrested before... oh yea and I was probably high or otherwise impaired...I SHOULD JUST TAKE MY LUMPS AND LIVE WITH IT RIGHT? WRONG, IVE ALREADY SENT NUMEROUS EMAILS TO DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS OF THE POLICE IN HOPES OF GETTING A RESPONS. Even if nothing comes of it, Ill feel better knowing that I actually put forth an effort and didnt sit on it. I wouldnt care if this happened once or twice as thats understandable...

Oh yea and I shouldve mentioned that Ive had dealings with this particular officer before... One night at around 11pm while me and some friends were on my driveway, 2 police cruiser out of nowhere just beamed those bright beacon lights on use blinding us.. all got out of their cars and started walking around our cars... 1 of the 3 officers was the same cop that pulled me over on friday...of course they asked us all for identification and bla bla bla... FUNNY HOW IM SUBJECT TO THIS IN MY OWN NEIGHBOURHOOD....

If those of you who dont agree with me had to deal with this day after day, you would feel the same... its not as simple as drive properly and you wont have problems... lol yeah i wish
No offense but you can use more common sense.
How many times have you heard of "33-year old caucasian male driving a volvo" dealing crack or breaking into cars and houses?
Now don't start the "profiling" because insurance companies profile me.

If they can profile then everyone can profile. Can police take your license away for a couple of years for being young male driver with a minor ticket? NO! Can insurance company skyrocket your rate so you can't get insurance and drive? YES!
So stop whining.

i dont see your point... getting stopped by police sometimes generally lands you a ticket that sometimes you may deserve and sometimes dont deserve... tickets lead to higher insurance... your profiled by insurance...im profiled by both.. ppl talk a lot of when they're not experiencing it themselves.

and being profiled by insurance is different than being profiled by police.. if you cant see the difference between being profiled for a product for sale, and being considered most likely a criminal by law enforcement.. then you have issues... you have a choice whether to purchase insurance or not.. whether to drive or not... i get this annoying harrasment whether im driving or standing around.. i dont get a choice.. there is a difference... so i will complain.. and ******** who say like you only make me complain more. so youve accomplished nothing
