if your convicted of the offense (pleading guilty) then its on your record..other than that meh....

about your insurance if you are already in good standings with your insurance company then tend not to look at your license again (already on file) they only look at in most cases when you make a claim.. with that being said you could be ok...I have 2 tickets on my record and my insurance is still were it was without the tickets. I have changed cars as well and still no different

3rd and this is my final input....one ticket will not hurt you, most insurance companies understand things happen and will over look the ticket, however if u get a second the wont be so nice...

good luck !

well the thing is that.. i have used insurance on my parents and my sister name. now i work with aircanada so i got better rates from rbc. so i was thinking to switch over but the problem is that i had a ticket like i think almost 1 yr ago and it was reduced and paid and this is going to be my second ticket so i was wondering like is thier any way if i go plead with an explanation, would the procecutor or the judge who ever is incharge would let the ticket go or reduce it so it dosent show on my record.

At the very least, plead not-guilty and await your court date in the mail. If it's a "quick" date, show up and ask for a continuance (very busy at work and need time to request discovery).

Ask the JP for 6 months at least. This will give you lots of time to switch insurance companies with only one ticket showing (which should be ignored by your new provider (ask them first)). IF you're rates go up another year down the road (at renewal time) due to your second ticket, it will only be for one year, as your first ticket is only acknowledged by your provider for 3 years from the date of the offense.

When your trial finally comes up, strike a deal for a lesser charge with the Crown just before court opens. Or you can even change your plea to guilty if you'd like, pay the fine, and be on your way.

I've got one more year of "granny driving" before my 3-year period is up from my last ticket. If I can squeak by another year ticket-free, ANYONE CAN!

thnx for the idea ... very well thought , my cuz just told me that since thier is no point's taken off it dosent show on your record when the insurance company trace's ticket on my file. is that true at all?

pimpinphilosophy 01-10-2008 02:22 PM

no...points have nothing to do with insurance...if your convicted of an offence, it will show on your record..

Bookm 01-10-2008 03:02 PM

Ya, your cuz is wrong. ANY HTA conviction will be considered by your provider as grounds for an increase, even offenses that cause no increased risk to themselves (ie. Failure to show license). The only way to keep your insurance in check is to fight every ticket. You may lose a few battles (court isn't always fair) but you have to get educated about traffic law and Provincial Offense procedures if your gonna' dabble in speeding 'n such ;)

plead not guilty!!!
otherwise you're pretty much screwed....

Not every insurence company will raise or lower your insurence based on a ticket. My friend(who is with the same brokerage as me) got a 59 in a 50 zone ticket and his insurence said(State Farm) as long as its 15 and under, insurence isnt affected.

My insurence broker told me the same thing as I insured my 16v Turbo as a 1.8 8v..I love having family friends :D

They failed for me :smilie_d0

Didn't even get any points dropped. Only the fine dropped less than 1/3rd.

andrewkm 02-19-2008 01:59 PM

damn really ?! :(
They worked for me...
Guess it all comes down to luck in the courtroom in the end.

discopimp 02-26-2008 08:37 PM

What you have to realize is that if you are convicted of any points related ticket your insurance will eventually find out. When convicted of speeding the insurance companies splits the offence into two categories...minor under 30km/h and major over 30km/h

I got a 10 over almost a year ago.... and my insurance for this year actually dropped. Thats my first and only ticket though.
