<<<no Insurance Ticket>> What Now?

I was driving to school today and din't see a cop hidin behind a tree with the gun.... anyways he gave me a ticket going 72 on a 50 zone... asides of all this i did not have insurance on the car since i bought it 25 days ago and dint have enought $$$ to pay it... had just recently done safety but he still nailed me for using my other cars plates.... so in total three life treating tickets....
no insurance
speedy 72 on 50km zone
unauthorized plates

I am honestly screwed but is there any chances of my doing something to fix it... I am 19 with a g2....

do all those tactics of postponing your court date and all that may work? but for the no insurance what can be done????
**by the way i am a noob in this forum**

Well what did you think was going to happen? First off all you were speeding which is a no-no and 2nd you were using anothers car plates and driving with no insurence. To add a cherry on top, a cop could have arrested you, and towed your car to the impound which is hella expensive(Something like 300$/night) plus tow fee's.

Get a lawyer and smarten up Good luck

You don't need either. You need to start saving your $.

You either have insurance and can prove it, or you don't. You don't need to pay a lawyer to tell the courts you have no insurance, so put that money towards the $5000 fine you're getting.

I've never heard of someone getting off on a 'no insurance' ticket. It's pretty cut and dry.

Same goes for the plates. There is no valid reason or excuse to use another vehicles' plates, whether they are from another vehicle you own or not. Fortunately, I expect the fine for that is significantly lower than the previous.

The speeding ticket is the only thing you can do something about. Go to court and speak to the crown, and they will almost certainly drop it to 15 over. The fine will go down a bit, and you won't get any points.

Though, this is only a guide. They might not do any favors for you considering what else you have on your plate.

TL;DR: You're screwed. Don't make the added mistake of paying someone to speak on your behalf.

the ttc will be your friend till you're 25. if you REALLY want any chance of getting these tickets off, you'll want to get a consultation with a real traffic lawyer, as opposed to a traffic ticket fighter like xcoppers, points, etc.

then again, if you couldn't even afford insurance in the first place, you probably have no funds for an expensive traffic lawyer.

yah brother.. sounds liked your f'd 2 ways from sunday! ^ is ur best bet make sure the judge isnt in a bad mood and tell em your a student and only work part time ... even if its a lie..... or tell him your a F/T student and dont work bc school is ur focus.... to make it sound better... tell him that ur in Highschool still and if u get fined 5 grand theres no way you can go to college/university bc you will need to work F/T to pay off... if ur in college or unviersity now than tell him you will have to drop out of school bc you will have to pay off the fine....

Sorry kid, there's no way out of this mess. Your best bet is to have an experienced lawyer negotiate away the Insurance charge with the crown. Two lawyers talking pro-to-pro can work deals that you and I NEVER could. Your lawyer will try his best to explain your dire financial position and just MAYBE catch you break. But the Crown is not just going to pass up that $5,000 so easy. You may have to "up" the fine on the remaining charges to appease the courts financial interest.

You have to include your parent(s). They are partially to blame. How is it possible that they didn't educate you on the Insurance risk? How did they let you leave the house and drive to school without knowing you're covered?

As a responsible parent, I will be directing MY teenage boys to this thread so they see the kind of expense they will face if they gamble on car insurance like this.

if you've ever been to traffic court, you'll know that both the prosecutor and jp could care less about whether you're a starving student, exams, etc., they just look at the facts and evidence surrounding the case.

normally you could bank on a 50/50 chance that the cop wouldn't show up, but unless there's an immediate emergency that requires their attention, i'm pretty sure they'll show up for a summons.

i'm not sure if you understand the severity of the situation you're in. driving without insurance in ontario is a major offense and unless you get REAL lucky (cop doesn't show up) than you're going to be screwed for the next 5-10 years insurance wise. even on liability only, you'll be paying insane premiums if you can find a insurance company who will cover you.

If you pleade not guilty the officer wont show up... as soon as you plead guilty, ( the waiting begins) because they go in the back and summon the police officer in.... now hopefully if u plead not guilty and the copper is work afternoons or nights then your chances are good, he wont come in.
