I agree with True GT, You can get it back it goes to a police property seizure building, depending on where u got the ticket you would have to look up where the nearest one to you is, tho I do believe to tag you have should now have to location, they used to make you call the cop shop and then they would tell you where it is. You can get it back before pleading guilty or going to court however you need to prove your out of province, easy enough and your intentions for the charge.... ie on the back of the ticket what you plan to do. show them proof u paid the ticket, if u plan to plead guilty, or proof your taking it to court and they should release it to you, you own it and it is not criminal therefore is not forfeited to the crown unless you fail to claim it.
