No that won't help your case at all. Spelling mistakes and stuff like that isn't taken into consideration in court.

I find it funny that so many use a paralegals/ pointts/ xcopper for something you can do yourself and save $300 plus dollars at that.

The alledged error of the vehicle year on the ticket, could this be your validation on your plate? If it is not your validation year 05/06 etc and not your car, then this is clearly an error, but not vital (hold this thought)

Second, if the plate is wrong, ask for disclosure and see the officer's notes, if this is also the wrong plate you have a another error (is this 2 errors now?) If the plate and notes are wrong, go to the MTO and get a certifed copy of your vehicles ownership on the date of the offence (costs $20). Photo copy it and take all this to court. When YOU get on the STAND...You can then present the original certified copy from the MTO to court, indicating your type of vehicle/plate/year on the offence date.

To which you can now make a summary to the JP in closing arguements something like. Your worship it is clear by the evidence today that I presented that I was in fact driving a 20XX make model, colour with attached Ontario issued plates of ABCD123. From this evidence this should clearly cast some doubt about the testimony given from officer X from the X police service and the charges today should be dismissed.

So for $20, certified MTO document and a little time you might have good chance to have the charges withdrawn, Unless the officer spells the way you do, such as "lisence" plate and can articulate the error in court.

That may be different. Dude forgot his badge number man. I was referring to spelling mistakes and like that. Also, did you attend the court hearing? It could have been something as simple as the cop not showing up; which would make sense if the cop didn't put his badge number on it.

You wasted $300 on X-Copper for something you could have done yourself.

Like MoosXing just stated, why do you guys waste money on X-Copper and all those other places when you can fight it yourself using the exact same tactics they do.

If he got your lisence plate wrong, then your ticket will not go on your file.. it will go on whos ever lisence plate # that is..
But the person who owns that lisence plate wil see it, and eventually it will get back to you unless he got your name wrong and your drivers lisence wrong...

Fines for parking/ ETR are attached to ones licence plates

Regular infractions are associated via the driver's licence number. Hence the reason insurance companies check ones driving record. Insurance companies od not care what plate is on what as long as the VIN matches their policy issued for coverage.

But you are unable to renew your lisence plate sticker if you have any unpaid fines.. whether its speeding or parking...
But i guess yeah, they have your drivers lisence on record in accordance to your plate # so i guess that makes sence..

You're confused. Your driver's license is in accordance to your name. You cannot renew your plates if you have any unpaid ETR bills or parking fines as per Moosexing's post. HTA fines have nothing to do with plate renewals.

You can still renew your license if you have any unpaid HTA fines. It's when your license becomes suspended due to unpaid fines that you can't renew. You must pay your outstanding HTA fines at any Provincial Offences court office and THEN you have go to MTO and pay $150 to reinstate your driver's license. Don't assume that because you paid your fines your license will be automatically reinstated. You are still suspended until MTO tells you otherwise.

Error

On a ticket there is no area for the year of the vehicle, so if youre thinking of using that excuse it won't work. The year refers to the validation sticker on your licence plate.

Meh, this is why i obey the law to not get fined.. too darn complicated. I heard that when you go to renew you lisence plate sticker, if it comes up that you have unpaid fines, you will not be given your sticker until those fines are cleared.. I wasn't talking about renewing your lisence.. just buying that little sticker...

As mentioned before, the unpaid fines are in relation to unpaid parking and 407 tolls. If these are not paid then you will not get your plate sticker.
