price on 1.8t swap into my mk2 gti

the headgasket in my gti is done, its an 8v.. mild cam and mild port and polish was all it ever had done, i was quoted by RMP motors in bolton 350 to do the headgasket, thats including machining the head.. i found this a little cheap, would i be best to just spend the 350- 500 or so to get my little 8v running strong agian.. or just either swap in a new 8v.. or possibly a 1.8t? Anyone have any info and price ideas on either swap.. i could grab another 8v motor for 350$.. but i dont know too much about pricing on 1.8t's.. along with the swap etc etc.. any info would be great.. thanks.

Easiest way to do that, is to find a wrecked 1.8t car, and buy it. Then you get all the wiring, etc you need. It's just a matter of finding a wrecked MK4, or Passat, Audi, whatever you can dig up with a 1.8t in it. Good luck man.

skillton will become famous soon enough
1.8T swap will usually run you anywhere from 5-7000 for a low k motor and done properly by a reputable shop.

If you have th money for a 1.8T swap... do the 1.8T swap.... If you don't.... get the headgasket done by Rocco @ RMP
