I own a 93 RX7 Type r Twin Turbo, and a 2001 Vette.
The Engine on the RX7 is starting to use water, and therefore needs to come apart. I have seen a RX V8 in Daytona and realy liked the Idea, BUT the rotary realy is fun to drive, If i wanted a baby Vette then I would convert it... So I'm rebuilding the engine next month...
What I'm saying is I like both the LS and RX engines......

I agree, its far more unique to grab a LSx and drop it in to a RX7 than to just tune the rx7..... that’s based on the above arguments.
B6T, don’t kid yourself, there aren’t many people that can tune domestics very well either out there.
From what i know and ive seen modding a ls motor would be far cheaper, 400+ with h/c/i. I don’t know how potent those motors are in the rx7, but the execution of the one pictures is awesome
Id hit it

I've noticed thsi swap is very common amount RX-7's but why an LS1. I would not like to own a Rotary RX-7 with a GM Motor. and is it much quicker. It definity won't have that nice rotary sound to it.

I dont know about you MX3, but every time I hear a Rotory, I think it sounds like ***, not many RX-7 Ive heard that I liked the sound.
Nothing like a good ol V8 with lumpy cams, that burble at idle you get. nothing is more bliss than that.
and about your "Is is much quicker",
oh hell ya its much quicker, you get stupid amounts of Torque to propel the car, and lets not forget Gas Millage.

The gas milage in a rotary isn't that bad.
I personally don't think V8s sound all that good, lumpy cams or not. The best sounding engine I've ever heard was an Audi 5-cylinder 20-valve. I think a ported rotary sounds awesome, but that's just my opinion.
This rotary sounds better then any V8 I've ever heard:

Difference of opinion right there folks.
and I do respect that.
To me the best sounding engine I ever heard was when I went to the F1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, and the Super Aguri broke down right in front of us. gotta tell you, Super Aguri isnt like Ferrari or Renault, but I found their engines to be the sweetest sounding. Youd have to listen carefully, since most people say, all the F1 engines sound the same, to some extent its true, not unless you have sensitive ears, you would know.
and what do mean the Gas Milage isnt bad for the rotory,
12-16MPG isnt bad now.
Here is for the RX-8

I see 12-18MPG for the RX-8,
while the Vette

I see 23-27.3 MPG for the Vette.
I dont know about you , but Id pick the good ol "PUSHROD" V8 with nearly double the power and way more torque than the RX-8, and still get better gas millage.
and I do respect that.

Im a fan of the WRX STIs, they sound bad *** when done.
I loved my rx7, but i would much rather have the pictured in this thread, its sex on wheels.

^ That's not 100% race car. If you hung around Etobicoke last year, you would have seen it driving around, in traffic, through drive-throughs, etc. It's just a fancy street car...
I'm not hating on the V8, I'm just saying that I would rather keep the rotary in my RX-7 then put a V8 in. I'm sure the Corvette is good on gas, but they are sports cars, not commuter cars, so fuel mileage shouldn't really be an issue.

So one of my next projects is going to be a V12...

I think that people with LS1 motors in their rx7s:
1. Don't have that patience to troubleshoot their rotary engines (poor dealer support)
2. TORQUE! they love the straight line performance and the feel (rotaries = none)
3. more support, meaning there are more people knowledgeable when it comes to modding it and fixing it. (more regular people know piston vs rotary engines)
I'll keep my wankel! Am happy with it either driven daily or during track days.

That orange rx7 is not 100% street car either. I think we have some pics of that thing floating around.
Dont get me wrong, rx7s in stock trim are nice, but this one with the LSx looks wicked
For anyone curious what that rx7 looks like, here are some pics.

Excellent choice of pictures there...
FYI, the welds on that intake manifold look like that because they had to be patched quickly and reliably. It was blowing the welds on the intake manifold... literally! In fact, I think that's the first time I've ever heard of intake manifold welds actually blowing... haha. Some of the other things the builder of that car has welded look amazing, it's a shame you don't have a picture of the tubular exhaust manifold/header on that car.
