Nope.... even better.

Car on jackstands. 12-foot length of steel pipe tied onto something solid at one end or the other (usually bumper support).... tied in a way so that I have lots of leverage to the side.

Simply stand on the pole, and observe the testing of the car's torsional rigidity. You'd be surprised how little force is needed to twist a chassis. Especially a cavalier.

And in regards to my weight 'problem' the hyperthyroidism is still rampant, and I refuse to go on medication for it. So yeah, I'm still a light-weight despite my ridiculously calorie-and-protein right diet. Stupid thyroid.

I know how little force is required to twist a chassis. Last time I was at Adam's house, I stood on the bumper support of his disassembled Supra (which happened to be on jack stands), and started jumping up and down on it. The targa top wasn't latched in, but resting in its place. You could see the corner of the top of the windsheild frame moving almost an entire centimetre relative to the stationary targa top. It was pretty funny. It gave me something else to talk about with him

I was considering testing my car the way you mentioned (except I would secure the rear support points so that it couldn't lift off the jack stand) but I figured that I wouldn't really want to know that information or else I'd knowt just how bad of a car I'm working with.

Did you end up calculating the amount of force required to twist the chassis? If you knew your weight, and knew the length of the bar, and had some way of the degree of twist, then it should be easy to calculate.

And tell your thyroid to straighten the out... at least you don't make up 10% of your car's total weight, like I do. Maybe that's why your Cavalier was so quick... power to weight ratio yo

You should see the heap I'm playing with now. 1998 Tercel.

4A-GE swap? Who knows. Leaning towards a 4E-FTE right now (JDM Starlet Turbo)..... but the 4a-ge is cheaper to swap in, just requires a bit more work (something like putting a B16 in an EF, only 10 years ago when there weren't aftermarket mount kits available).

Anyways, I'll be out and about racing cars that shouldn't be raced this summer.

Awesome man, I'll be right there beside you with my car that shouldn't be on the road anymore, let alone raced... we can have a heap battle... haha. What 4AGE are you thinking about? I hope you're looking at the 20V engines. Those are sweet engines... 155hp, revs to something like 8500rpm (9000rpm if you feel lucky), individual throttle bodies... mmmmm... you can get them for CHEAP too. Do they have variable cam timing too? I can't remember.
