It's carelessness that kills, that and stupidity. If people were more cautious less accidents would occur. The speed kills idea was completely proven to be false with the excellent record of the Autobahn and the tighter restrictions on German roads (obviously an accident and high speed has a better chance of ending in death, but with proper care and a stable vehicle, the accident should never happen in the first place). Less on speed, more on driver awareness and proper driving skills. Heck, I almost had my friend get killed when an old man ran the stop sign and nailed me after I was almost across the intersection, soon as the cop got to the scene she immediately cleared me of blame and charged him with reckless driving and failing to stop at a four way stop (or however it was worded), pay attention to the road!
