Forced Audio Upgrades.....

Well, since I have no choice but to get new stereo equipment......anyone have any suggestions on a head unit & an amp (to power 2 12' Pioneer DVC 600W subs)?

I'm thinking about this CD player....not to expensive w/ neat features:

JVC EXAD KD-LHX550

I have no clues on the amp though.

Of course, I won't be able to buy anything if my insurance doesn't compensate me....

jvc hasn't had too great a track record with head units (not the greatest sound quality , but I haven't heard the new ones yet)
I would do this one (it's the replacement for what's in the gp, and also similar to what I used when i competed) Panasonic CQC 8301
CUSTOMIZABLE HD 3DDM GRAPHICS DISPLAY!
50 WATTS X 4
MP3/WMA PLAYBACK
MOTORIZED FRONT PANEL
2-5 VOLT RCA'S AND 5 VOLT SUBWOOFER OUT
AUX INPUT, HIGH AND LOW PASS CROSSOVERS
WIRELESS REMOTE, DAY & NIGHT FACE
ROTARY ****
it would run $270 plus shipping.I can also get that JVC one it would run $380 plus shipping.

Would the Panasonic be good for subs as well? That JVC had a ton of options that the guy showed me....

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to audio stuff. Any other "cool" ones out there that you would recommend?

What about Pioneer Premier stuff? Like the one you have on your eBay store?

Yeah. Steve said when he was competing it was spl and that that is basicly the head unit he used. I wanted to add too, that I have the older version in my car and I love it. I actually want the panasonic with the ghost buttons on it, but they don't make it any more. Also, you can add a mp3 player to it too. Its really easy to do too.

I'm not a real fan of the pioneer. The panasonic has a crossover, and sub volume control as well as some eq settings. I can get some alpine, but the pricing sucks, and they tend to be a ***** to use (user interface is horrible) I also have blaupunkt, not bad stuff but not real great.

ive had pioner stuff but it was all the older ones. They got alot of options like the jvc one you were looking at but so do pretty much all the newer decks with premium outlits. I would go with what arch says it is part of his line of work after all.

I actually like the JVC better than Pioneer (truthfully pioneer car audio is about the same as jensen as far as quality)

sorry but that's the way it has always been, pioneer is a home audio company that got into car audio to make a buck (kind of like sony, who is considered among the worst in car audio, but decent in home)even in home pioneer is a low end product. Now pioneer elite is very nice stuff

Well, I checked out that Pioneer Premier in person....and I don't like it at all. The user interface (the big button in the middle) sucks.

Now, I saw the Panasonic CQ-C9901....and thats the one I want. Can you get that one for a decent price Arch?

I'll have to check I have two panasonic suppilers neither one lists it, but that doesn't mean much, but I thought you wanted a reasonable priced one Minimum advertised price on that thing is $1149 I can do this one http://www.panasonic.ca/English/car/...rs/cqc8401.asp for $270 plus shipping (that's the one I mentioned earlier) they take a fairly big jump in price from there.

Well, that particular model Panasonic I saw for $499 at my local electronics store, & it going for about $400 on eBay......

$400 is a little more than I wanted to spend, but after seeing this one in person....I was sold on it.
