Help with Audio
well i know i havent posted in a while mostly due to school starting and getting ready to start really looking into colleges that whole deal.....but since im getting my rims in the spring so i dont ahve to deal with the snow and the salt and all that crap in the winter i decided to upgrade my stereo system......
Is there a way to hook up everything you need for a sub to the stock CD player (like an adapter or anything ). i would also like some recomendations for the sub (brand, 10 or 12" )and the amp (brand and depending on the sub the WATTS) and whatever else i will need ...Is there anything else i can get to make it sound better....

i hooked it up to mine, people always say you cant do it, well i did.lol.
you will prolly need a Line out converter, then the sub/amp of coarse.
a single 12" will be fine for your first system, but you will be upgrading constantly if you are really into it, and always looking for the best.
i would suggest doing it properly and laying at least 1500 plus into the system. this would get you a nice head unit, a 4 channel amp, components for the fronts, coaxials for the rear, a mono amp and a sub. plus sound deadening. you can just throw a sub and amp in, but it wont sound great with the rest of the stock crap. ive been running some good speakers all around with some ******** subs. however the amp is half power for the subs and the speakers/components are all running off the stock head unit and 8 channel amp which = not too great. does it sound ******* compared to most others, yes... would it be way better with a nice amp and head unit, of coarse. so it really depends where you wanna go and how far you wanna get into it. sound deadening is a must for fbodies.lol

hmm.........how bout keeping the stock speakers but getting an amp for them as well...and getting the subs and the amp... whats sound deadening.....i was hoping not to spend that much

4 channel on stock speakers = BIG NONONONONONO. dont do that.lol
the stock system isnt half bad, so theres not much you can do to upgrade it properly without spend a lot of money.
if you want, do a quality single 12" and a nice mono, thats what i started with, however i already had some other nice components/coaxials. although like i said before, stock amp = ghey.
sound deadening is just a matting you lay throughout the car to keep rattles out.

a line out converter will be needed to get an rca output to feed the amp from a stock radio/cd player
start with a decent 12" or 2 10" subs and either a small mono block or a bridgable 2 channel amp..
ask arch to put together a package for ya

just really depends what you plan on doing, i started with some small average-high quality stuff then instantly had to upgrade, and now i need to go all out to really satisfy what i want and make everything keep up with each other.lol. it really is a whole nother level to car customizing/hobbying.
Arch will hook you up for sure, otherwise if you know any local people who got a hookup, thats always nice. ive gotten great deals right around town on brand new/near brand new stuff for dirt cheap. research is always your friend too. good luck!
