Ok, heres the fix for the sensitive volume

Buy 2 of these guys at radio shack http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search

Cut each cable about 6 inches from each end you will have extra cable thats waste. Basically strip the ends and splice them into the speaker wires on the harness going to the car, leaving the wires unhooked from the radio. So on Left Front + and Left Front - you will have one rca plug connected, etc for each of the others. Make sure to observe the same polarity throughout the connections. If i recall the one with the line on it is positive, it really doesnt matter as long as you keep it all the same. Then plug each rca into the corresponding preout on your radio. So the one that connects to the right front will plug into the rca jack for front right on the radio. This should eliminate any noise and the sensitive volume. Make sure to carefully tape off the old wires, post back with your results and or pics.

Thanks

ok, is there a solid blue on the gm harness? if so hook it up to the blue/white stripe off of the deck harness. solid blue is normally power antenna but in some cases they use it as an amp turn on like in all chryslers. if that doesnt work bypass the amp. cut all wires going into the amp, take a 9 volt battery and start testing leads. they should be somewhat obvious as to +- to each speakers. just sit there and start testing wires. once you hear the speaker make almost like a popping sound you know that is your output. if if you want to just get by for now so that you have a cd player for long ride, you can just match up inputs to outputs. everything will just be mixed around as far as fade/balance. if youve got the time you can meter each wire but it will take you awhile. hope this helps let me know.

The stock HU is busted. Won't even turn on half the time.

I'll try the re-wiring after I get back from California. Thanks for the help guys.

you said it works with the remote wire hookedup there is no need to rewire anything just splice the rca's in to eliminate the over sensitive volume

i kind of had the same problem. i put in my new hu and it would turn on but nothing would happen. i cut the adapter off so i just hardwired everything. after re-connecting everything so many times i looked up what wires where for what, and where they went. but some of the wires were not the same as the factory colors so that caused problems. i ended up getting a different hu and trying it again and it worked and i didnt have to re-wire everything. it was a pain!
