Need Some Help with Audio
Hello I just bought a 93 Firebird, it has 10 speakers, Im assuming it has a factory amp.
I figured the rear seat speakers were blown because they were not working, but I tested them and they worked fine. Luckily I had the factory head unit in the rear and stuck that back in and the speakers in the rear seat worked.
So for some reason, the speakers in the rear seat do not work when there is an after market head unit installed. With the factory head unit in it sounds great.
I checked the wiring and everything seems to be ok, not sure what it could be. Its almost like the Amp knows there is an aftermarket installed and shuts down to **** me off..
Anyone know what I could be doing wrong?

I guess i just dont understand, the factory radio harness has the 4 wires for the rear speakers, when they are hooked up, they power the rear seat as well as the back hatch speakers.
If the aftermarket head unit is hooked up to the same exact wires, the only sound comes through the back hatch speakers.
I dont understand that if im using the same exact wires, why it works with factory and not aftermarket.

How do I hook Up the turn on lead?
The factory harness has 14 wires at the connector, and I am supplying 14 wires into the harness connector. Is the turn on wire separate from the harness?
I dont see that being the case because all I have to do to make it work properly is plug in the factory radio.
I have one other question, I have bought some new eclipse 6.5 round 40w rms 120 watts max, the model number is SE8365.
Should I just cut the amp out of the equation and rewire the car?

in the 10 speaker system the only thing powered by the bose amp is the subs.
lets start with this is the power antenna working
this is a simple matter of connecting the proper wire
also in the factory gm harness are there any wires that arent conencted on the otherwise to ur radio, as in teh aftermarket harness didnt have a wire to match up with it, if so what color

right and if you run wires to the "subs" with signal wire you bypass the junk amp, also using an interface from pac or soundgate will make everything work properly

how? You replace the wimpy 5 watt amp with headunit power (or better yet get a real amp) add a couple passive crossovers if you want. Stock doesn't have bass anyway (sorry a paper speaker that weighs under 5 pounds can't produce real bass laws of physics apply)
