Alpine is overrated, their new lineups cost way too much for the features they offer...pioneer makes the best bang-for-buck decks out there and if you want higher end they have that too...what more can you want?

noo such thing as a 9800MP...i know of a 9800BT though. anywayz....pioneer is a product of more quality. in car audio, pioneer > sony anyday. sony has big problems with their power supply's in their decks. their xplod subs are horribly designed (octagon shape). pioneer subs arent the greatest. but pioneer certainly makes better headunits. i had a pioneer 3700, 6800, now i have a 6900. very good unit. ALOT of improvements from the 6900. sounds alot better too.

I'll be the only one to say this but I found after having an Premier 840MP, that the sony 8815X is a better deck for a quater the cost. The features are easier to use, the Sony does break down every week and the as for sound the sonys EQ set up is a lot more flexible. Both decks are top end and not the entry level stuff. I also didnt have to buy a $60 adapter for my PS2 input, it was built into the sony.

hahha, its all about preference dude... the best advice is find a find or someone with one of the decks and play around with them for a bit, which ever is more fluent for you go for it...
