question about my setup
hey guys right now i got a pioneer deck with one set of pre-outs, and i have a 4 channel pioneer amp. the amp is running all four of my speakers (2 speakers running off front L and 2 speakers running off front R channel wired in parallel) and my subwoofer (left and right rear channels bridged)...do u think it would be worth it to get a new deck with 3 sets of pre-outs and a new amp (mono for my subwoofer) so that my 4 channel amp can run 4 seperate speakers and i can have the mono sub powering my subwoofer? is it a worthwhile investment? will it sound better? thx.

yeah , i think it would be worth it. It would give you a little bit more flexibily because you will be able to set each pair of speakers up exacly the way you want it (for example, if you wanted to reduce the rear speakers volume with your current set up you would need resistors to limit power to the rears where as with the new deck you can change it whenever you want). You will also be able to fade without affecting the sub and you will be able to control the sub volume without changing the mids/highs using the sub out control. Plus most decks that have 3 pre outs now usually have crossovers filters right on the decks for the fr rears and sub , some even have built in delay and /or time alignment for the speakers.
