gotcha gotcha.. your right it wasnt on a turn lab scale that the guy hit a 153.. it was on the old style.. cool cool.. figured that might be the difference.. and it was just a small local show..

i hit a 132.5 on a turn lab scale at 46hz..

ill try to get pics of the db drag competition van i helped build when i worked at the audio shop.. 2 competition 18's rebuoldable... 8 parallel 8 volt batteries.. 4 amplifiers.. 3 high output alternators... and 25 cubic foot worth of air space in that monster.. it holds the world record in its class at 159.9 i think.. he might have hit higher than that htis year.. and thats on a turn lab scale.. its a monster

wow 160's out of a geo storm? is that hatch back?

did you ever try rearranging your setup to be more in the hatch.. comign off the glass? seems like you would get 4 or 5 db's extra even if you bounced the sound waves backwards off the glass

alot of the new comps are doing cone area to combat what kicker had been doing (Alma Gates cheating at finals made everyone mad) it's hard to fake subs, but I can hide amps anywhere

didnt know that havnt been to any off cone area yet i guess.

My systeme wasnt made for SPL It was made to hit the hardst street bass around. Thats a lower freq and doesnt help spl. It still can hit mid 150s on a floor mounted old style spl but thats didnt matter to me. My box was custom fabed to pound on music loud as posible. It was also made to be custom painted to match the outside of the car (just have to pull the carpet off do a little mudding and paint) So no I will probably never change the way they are in there that box took like 2 weeks to build by its self not to mention all the other work that had to be done and work yet to do when im ready for it to be painted. SPL there is just too much money and work that has to go into it and usually it doesnt look show quality. I want to win shows spl is just to pass time and have some fun tell i have the money in place to move on to competing as a show car.

i know exactly what you mean about the custom box.. mine is the exact same way.. it is fiberglass and took 8 days to build just the box.. i later strippped the carpet to begin applying bondo and such to finish out the box and either paint it or cover it in leather. It has been sitting unfinish for I dont know how many months now. That is one hell of a project.

I dont understand though, what you mean by your box was fabbed to pound on music loud as possible, yet you are saying that it wasnt built for SPL levels? If I am correct, SPL is essentially how loud a system hits/pounds. SO how was it set up to pound as loud as possible but not set up for SPL?

being a lower frequency i can understand, especially running the 15" woofers, but a lower frequency can mean higher spl numbers. It all just depends on what frequency the subwoofer outputs best, as well as the amp, and at what frequency level the entire system is tuned. like my entire system is setup to compete at 46hz.

Trust me I know the cost, the equipment in my van was worth over a million dollars, and that had no labor (glad it was all donated by Lanzar)

My system is made to hit to real low bass that is in like rap songs. And that does not mean that it will produce a higher spl number. Spl is systems are pretty much just spl not sound quality usually. My car in a song hits harder then people that beat me in spl. I dont know the spacifics arch would know more about it then me i just got the just of it from my install guys. Like arch just posted the amount of money for an spl car is insane and you dont really make it back. You cant here how loud a system is from a magazine you know what i mean. I spent about 6gs in equipment to build my system but its more sound quality and street bass then spl. But its exactly what i wanted so im good.

Thats bad *** and yet with that million dollars you still couldnt catch Alma Gates. That is why i couldnt just compete spl if you cant be the best at something like that then its not worth trying. And i can not afford to try and bet her lol. But car shows are something else a few magazines and your know world round. And its your imagination coming to life. Thats what the draw is for me.

i understand what your saying.. that yours is setup to hit as loud as possible but without sacrificing SQL levels basically (or just general sound quality).. trust me i understand that..
