speaker question

so if i want to replace the speakers in my z i have to run new wires up to the head unit? wtf? thats what the guy at crutchfield said can someone who has changer both their front and back speakers explain this

RFF 12-22-2004 10:22 PM

You don't have to run new wires.

so what do i do, the guy at crutchfield said i would have to run new wires. anyways i am using the bose speakers now and if i do wanna change the speakers that means i will be losing the bose sub in the trunk and will also have to get a new wiring harness? so what do u use the exisiting speaker wires? the guy said since they are amplified or something you would have to install and get a special harness and run new wires to the harness, can someone please explain

ah bose, you need the adapter from a local car audio store (not best buy or circuit city) real easy to do you don't need a new harness (crutchfield is not a dealer for teh kits)

adapter for what?

FamousZ 12-23-2004 01:39 PM

Is the bose speaker system the same as the Monsoon? Does it have a stock amp? Because if you want to get the right power out of your speakers you will need to rewire.. Thats what I have to do for my system. And I had to get a amp just to power all the speakers..

archemedes 12-24-2004 08:50 PM

more or less there is an adapter to go from the bose garbage (monsoon same way) to a real speaker, the monsoon is more fun usually since each speaker has it's own amp. there is an interface for both not exactly cheap at 50 bucks the last time I checked but works very well and much cheaper than a rewire

imported_2fast4u 12-26-2004 03:48 PM

so what do i have to do? get a adapter for each speaker and this would make it so i wouldnt have to rewire? where can i get these at? and i thought the bose each speaker has its onw amp like built onto it or something, but when i put in my headunit i got the harness for the bose systme can i still use this harness or do i have to get a new one? can u also get an adpater for the bose 6x9 in the trunk or will that speaker just not work if i change the others?

archemedes 12-26-2004 11:20 PM

go to a local specialist they will have the adapter to tell you what all you need, the audiovox speakers (oops sorry they say bose) will not work once you change the head and other speakers it sounds like crap anyway

archemedes 12-26-2004 11:29 PM

check this out they are the ones that make the stuff (crutchfield showed up on a search for them by the way)

no i already changed the head unit and the guy said if i was changing the head i would have to get a special harness for the bose, now im thinking about changing the speakers so do i have to get the adpaters and the differ harness or just the adapters? where are the adpater on this site id dont see em

archemedes 12-27-2004 08:52 PM

try and add a speaker and see if it works you can get one cheap if you don't have any extra (only needs to be a speaker nothing special

imported_2fast4u 12-28-2004 10:37 PM

ok, the only adpater i see on there are for adding an amp to stock speakers or stock head unit and stuff what i am saying is i have a pioneer head with the bose hearness and bose speakers ... can i change bose speaker without re wriring? can i do it without re wiring and using the bose hearness that i have right now? if i do this will i be able to put an aftermarket 6x9 in the trunk to replace and have it work?

archemedes 12-28-2004 11:25 PM

try it and seeis all I can say, and if you do a 6x9 leave teh factory one they all sound like someone smacking a pile of dog **** anyway

imported_2fast4u 12-29-2004 11:05 AM

what the 6x9 aftermarket sound like crap? is that what your saying
