I would think if I had the manual switch, I shouldn't need the extended air dam.

HOLY COW!!!! I knew the inevitable would happen to me sooner or later. I pulled into a parking spot today at the store without ever thinking about the GFX. I'll give you 3 guess's what happened, and the first 2 don't count.
Yep......I pulled to close to the yellow curb in front of me pushing the front piece under the car about 4 inches. I had no idea I even did it until after I got out and walked around the front of my car. As I looked down and seen it pushed up under the car......I yelled the word F**K so loud, I had nearly everybody within a square block, whip there heads around to see what was happening.
OOOOOOH,........I was seriously like this :banghead: and then some. Obviously I jumped back in and backed it away from the curb, but still..... I just knew I'd have to have my painter re-paint it or fix something. To my sheer amazement, I reaced down, pulled it back up into place, and I'll be dam*ed if it didn't hardly put a scratch on it.
I could not believe I didn't even spiderweb the paint on it. The only thing that was visible, was a thin yellow scuff where the curb actually made contact with the GFX, and that came right off with some Goo-Gone. I swear to God there wasn't any evidence that I even did it, except for now....you can tell that the 3M Tape isn't holding as well. That's no big deal though,.....I'll pull it off tomorrow and re-install some new double sided tape and slap it back on.
This little stunt taught me two lessons......1) I need to be much more careful,.........and 2) my painter definitely knows how to mix his paint for spraying Urethane Parts. He had to have mixed just the right amount of Flex-Additive to the paint, in order for it not to have even spiderwebbed the paint.
I got lucky this time... Next time it probably won't have a happy ending.......Hopefully there won't be a next time. (Phwew)

Arch- Here's a couple little things you might be able to try before spending actual money.
You could try and put some new holes in the airdam that drop it down slightly to see if that makes any difference. If that doesn't work, try addin something to the bottom of it to catch a little air.
Another way I know to make sure you keep your temps down is a little more dramatic. Since I never used the A/C, I pulled it all out, including the a/c radiator which allows a lot more air to get to your coolant radiator.
If you don't use your A/C but don't want to get into pulling stuff out, try unpluggin the wire that goes to the A/C pump. Now the next time your car starts to get a little hot, turn on your A/C. The factory designed the cooling system to turn on both fans when the A/C is on, regardless of engine temp since there will be additional strain on the motor.
If all else fails, just spend the $50 on the switch and another $20 on a 160 thermo and you will be all set.

I would without a doubt get the manual fan switch if anything just as a saftey guard. See how that works for you and then decide if you need the air dam.

Thanks for the advice though,.....I keep that in mind for future problems.

The Manual Fan Switch I just ordered today, I got from Speedspecialties.com which was $29.99 shipped, and comes with LED's for the low setting and the high setting. For someone like me who hates wiring, it's actually one of the best set-ups I've seen for the price. I'll have to do a post on it in the Product Review forum. Considering RK Sport wants $69.00 for theirs, it actually a very good deal.

I think I too will get a manual fan switch. My extended air dam hits on fairly flat looking pavement sometimes and I have to take everything at angles.. but I have never ripped them off and once I learned how to take things at angles right I never even scraped them. It's not my daily and I don't take it over speed bumps.

I posted a new thread with a link to the one I ordered today. It's a killer deal for what it is, but it's only on sale through April 14th, so if you're thinking about getting one at some point, this would be a good opportunity.
