Ground efects or no...

Ok, I have been tossing around the idea of putting some ground effects on the car. I picked up a set of RS skirts that also came with the 2-piece CME kit. Also lying around the shop is the one piece skirt that I think flows real well with the car. With the front and side skirts on there the car looks killer IMO..but also sucks that I can't even roll a pop can under the car...

So heres my problem(s). The car will be getting CME either way, either with the early 2-piece style or the later one piece, whichever one I choose will be molded into the bumper so it looks like its an entire bumper.

I would really love to have the skirts on there but I am worried about the ground clearance issues. My car is low enough as it is, but with the skirts its going to be a headache I think. I don't want to have to take them off all the time to have them re-painted from scraping on stuff all the time.

The other problem is this- Now that I can put my power to ground, I will be going to the track a lot more. Which also means probably gettin a set of 15" wheels to run slicks and skinnies on. I think that our cars look pretty SICK sittin on a set of skinnies and some nice 28" slicks out back. So, when I am sporting this look, I think the g/e will look out of place.

So basically what I am asking is this-

1.)Put on the skirts all the way around and go for more of a street/slick look and try to take some more trophies at shows..the would also keep the lowering springs and such- try and maintain a nice lowered look.

or

2.)Just stick with CME and go for more of the bad-a$$ strip look and be a lot more intimidating than it already is..which would mean taking out the lowering springs and drag suspension put in for better results at the track, and some nice fat tires..

Just looking for some feedback as I have to make up my mind pretty quick..I know it was long and probably confusing but somebody try and give me something to work with..

I think you should go with the gfx.. I have always been a fan of gfx on Camaros and I think that it would look killer with the high hood that you have..

i think the gfx would look nice, but if they will interfere with what you want, your car does look good without them.

I thinks it's pretty obvious what I like when it comes to the look of the 4th Generation Camaros......and I'll agree with these guys about how BAD-A$$ your car would look with them on. BUT.......with the power that you're running in your car,......unless your suspension is stiff as hell, I think you might regret putting them on.

With the exception of some bolt-ons, my engine is basically stock, (yet that doesn't stop me from driving faster than I should) but I'm "Constantly" putting the brakes on in order to slow down enough so that I don't scrape on things.

Have you seen Frankers car on his website where he's launching off the line? He's running some ok power in his car w/GFX on it, but it sits up about an inch higher than mine does. I'll have to go back into your gallery and look at your wheel gap, cause if you've got at least an inch to an inch and a half of gap between your tires and well, you'll probably be ok.

I say "GO FOR IT"......

Go with the street look, I have always been a fan of mean street cars. If I want a track car I will just drop a 454 in a Vega.

We'll see, I have enough stuff to do with the motor, fuel system, rear-end swap and all the things that will go along with that..If I can find the time and the $$ to get them painted they might make an appearance on the car this summer..

I like the look of the gfx's, but to me something like this looks frickin AWESOME...

dude thats exactly what im gonna do to my car this year is that pro street look...im gonna build the motor and everything then next yr i will worry about the gfxs...i say u should get the lip kit but if u are going to be doing some racing then u should put it off for awhile.cause if ur going to put it in shows i would think ur gfxs would have some slight damage from racing and that wouldnt look good at a show

Oh, I couldn't agree with you more when it comes to late model 4th Gen cars. If I had a 98+ Camaro, It would definitely have the big tire look. But when it comes to early 4th gen's, there's something about the stock body that makes me feel like it's really missing something.

I was looking at pictures of my car before I put the GFX on it, then the pictures I just recently posted....and it's a totally different car. (IMO) Now, there's a guy I know who completely disagrees......he thinks it looked better without 'em.

Take a look at the before and after, I think they look way better!........

I think you should do the CME and leave it at that. While I think the gfx would look good that's just not your car.

Another thing that I forgot to mention and would also like some input on- when I mocked up the gfx, I thought it made my wheels look small. Is this in my head or did anyone else experience this??

I figure if I am going to go one route I want to make sure I do it right..which the more I think about it, gfx means slappin on some 18" wheels to complete the look..sometimes figuring this all out can cause a real headache!!
