Lowering springs remain @ a certain rideheight. coilovers are adjustable

Until you hit a big bump, and your springs pop out of the seats because you cut so much of them off that they aren't physically long enough to have any preload against the spring seats. Then your suspension at whatever corner fully compresses and the tire locks up, causing you to spin out and hit some innocent person.

Great idea!

Cutting your springs is just a bad idea, unless you keep a certain amoutn of preload in the spring, and don't cut much out. Don't do more than an inch. I cut the "unused" coil out of my front springs and the car has a slightly nicer stance, but nothing major.

For neons, I remember reading anything more than ~1.25" will bottom out frequently. Also, I eibach's tend to be softer than most springs... wouldn't recommend them.

Even pro's have been known to cut springs. Ithas to be done right. Heat is the problem. I know a guy that did it with a saw , measured everything so they both came out the same. Then took 1 coil off and immediatley dipped them in water.

coilovers are the best way to go since they are adjustable.
