then he's an idiot and losing money, I buy paint at the same price as the local body shop and to do a complete car correctly I spend around $900 on paint and accompaning chemicals, now I need masking tape, and paper (another $50-$75 per car) thinner for cleanup (fairly cheap)fillers about $20 a gallon for pro type. So you get over a grand real fast and have no time, he must do labor free (maaco and the like get paint chaeper because they buy a truckload of one color at a time not many body shops can do the volume needed to make that cost effective)

my dad spent about 300 bucks on his Daytona yellow lacquer and clear, he had all the other crap here so he got a paint job for 300 bucks and a couple hours of work. not the best paint job but it's pretty **** good for being done in our garage.

laquer is cheap, since most states don't allow pros to use it

I just payed $300 to have my front bumper painted, about 3 hours of prep in it getting it smooth in a couple 'spots'- it was only around $40 for the materials though-and Arch before you say anything- he uses all PPG paint products so I know it wasn't junk paint...I'll post pics of the bumper once the car gets out-
