Powdercoating will hold up a lot longer and I have strongly consiered it myself and might someday. I have done a lot of powdercoating to my engine bay, but its not an easy task to get the calipers PCed

Didnt have much time at my car today, but I got the front calipers and caliper brackets off. What the hell do you use to clean this ****! I am not having much luck getting anything clean.....Also, one of my caliper brackets is really rusted, dont want to paint it in the condition its in, im up for segjustions on that one, heres some pictures.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/6486337...7594516557682/

The one half way clean caliper, i used denatured alcohol and a wire brush, it took FOREVER. I am still experimenting with other stuff, the list includeds: Heavy duty degreser, dish soap, Shaklee Basic I, borax(parents idea), and the last thing i tried that seems to be working the best is, brass-copper cleaner, like the **** you use to clean the bottom of a cooking pan, it is still a very long process, I have atleast 3 hrs into cleaning this 1 caliper and its still not clean! Any help would be greatly apprecitated, either on cleaning or on what to do with the caliper bracket.

Sorry for the long post.

Well, I pretty much got everything clean, but I guess I need to have that one caliper mount sand blasted, I was going to try electrolysis, but I don't think im that gutsy. Take a look at the pictures above and you will know what mount im talking about, if you have any ideas let me know, because as of right now, I dont know anyone with a sandblaster.

Got the caliper brackets sandblasted locally for 15 bux, still working on getting the calipers themselves clean, since they cant be sandblasted(or atleast this guy wont), any good ideas on getting these clean, I have tried everything and am not seeing much results.....

Yea, I forgot to post that I've tried break cleaner, went through 3 cans of the good kind with tetra-whatever is in it, just on one caliper and seen almost no difference.

Click on them for bigger then click all sizes for even bigger. And i dont know why but my camera, or the flash or something made it look like there was dust or something all over everything.
