Test Fitting SS Hood

I took my car up to my buddy's shop last night to test fit my hood, and snapped a few pictures while I was there. Once the hood was on, my biggest fears were confirmed.......it didn't fit worth a sh*t. The rear corners were way too high, so he has to cut material out of the mounting area and sandwich it together, then glass over it to regain the structural integrity.

He's also going to have to add fiberglass to the bottom of the front corners so that he can grind down the top surface to get them down too. So it fits great aside from all four corners being too high. :banghead:

Anyway, heres some pictures of it,......the last two show how he's cutting out the rear section to squeeze it together and bring them down. He's really good with fiberglass so I'm not worried a bit.

If you're referring to the hole in the front of the scoop, then yes....I'll be cutting it out. Obviously I have a STB and a CAI, so I won't be running the Ram-Air intake, but I'll still have it open with a black grill insert so that cold air can enter the engine compartment.

As far as getting the corners down..... my body and paint guy is SO good when it comes to fabricating and working with fiberglass, he'll have that thing as smooth as a stock SS hood, and have it line up perfectly with the fenders and front bumper cover in a short period of time. He comes up with these killer ideas right off the top of his head, and makes 'em work.

I'm going back up there Saturday to do a final test fit before he goes to town on it, and hopefully he'll have it done by next weekend.

I wouldn't, there's absolutly no room for advancement. You're just stuck there doing the same tideaus(sp) work for the rest of your life.

Exactly, My big plan after high school was to go to be a mechanic, but after thinking it through its somethin i wouldnt want to do everyday, dont get me wrong i love working on cars but its more of a hobby than somethin id like to make a career of. So thats why i got into college for criminal justice, theres lost of opportunities to do different things and its somethin id really like to do so thats what im doin..
Anyway the hood looks awesome man, cant wait to see it all lined up and painted.

I know, but its just somthing I like doing. I love fixing things, and I know I would auto detail like a mother, Im such a perfectionist with things like that I dont let anything slide by.. Id just like to do bodywork, or auto detailing, somthing like that... I probably wont, but its just somthing I could have in mind incase computers dont work out for me. Plus some of those guys make a lot of money for that stuff.

i think it would be really cool, cause its working on cars but its actually kinda like an art too. i think if i learned i would be pretty good at it and enjoy it a lot but like chad said not much advancement and with bernotas, working on cars is fun but everyday is kinda not too fun.

It'll look really nice when its all finished. My hood didn't fit perfectly when I got it either, but we have it adjusted to the point that its very close and you can't really tell.
