Yeah, str8up, your car looks amazing. That's the kinda look that I'm trying to get my white camaro to look like. Anyway, yes, I'm really interested in the details on how to install a kit ... I'm still a little confused on the basics ... See, the clips are IN the kit right now, considering it's used, am I going to have to remove the clips from the kit right off the bat? Were you saying that you 3M tape it all around first and then fit the clips on somehow? ... I guess you can either help me out on here or PM ... Or if anyone knows a link, you don't have to waste so much of your time.

But yeah, your car looks gorgeous...

Exclamation Here's a few "Instructions" that might help a little

First of all, Thanks for the compliment.. Most definitely the first thing you'll have to do is remove the existing clips. If there happens to be any of the double-sided tape left on the back of the pieces, it will also have to be removed. I'd use a putty knife and some Goof-off or lighter fluid to eliminate any left-over adhesive. If there's no tape on them, then you're in luck,.....but you definitely need to use some when you install this kit on your car in order to get a tight fit. This will make it so that you won't see gaps between the the GFX and the car.

Then obviously they'll have to be sanded down in order to get 'em ready for paint. After they're stripped down and sanded, that's when I would apply the 3M double-sided tape, because if you try and apply it after the paint, you might mess it up. Besides......when you buy 'em new, the tape is already there, and it's ok if they paint over it, because you'll be pulling off the protective backing on the tape before installation. I wish I would have taken pictures of the back of my GFX to show you where to apply the tape. It definitely needs to be close to the top of each piece, around 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch from the top.

When you're ready to install them, you'll need at least one other person there to help hold them against the car, so that way you can mark where they need to go with either a grease pencil or pieces of masking tape. This is Extremely Important because once you stick the parts to the car with this tape, they're not moving. Before marking where you want them though, make sure you use some Grease and Wax Remover in order to assure a clean surface and better adheasion.

Once you've marked where they go, your ready to install them. How you want to do it is: hold the part in place with the help of a friend, then pull the backing off one end of the tape, but only pull it away about two inches, creating sort of a tail that sticks up from the part. Then push the part against the car making sure its where you marked it, (not hard, just enough so that you can still pull up on the tape) as you pull the tape, start pressing the part against the car until all the tape has been pulled. Go back over the entire length of the part and press firmly to make sure it's stuck well.

When it comes to the front and rear pieces, you'll want to make a cut in the tape, right in the very center of the piece, because you're going to start in the middle and pull the tape from the center towards the outside of the car (the wheel wells) that way you know the piece is centered on the car. Once all 4 pieces are taped to the car, that's when you can drill your holes for the clips or fasteners or rivets or self-tapping screws. This is obviously much easier to do with the car on jack stands and the wheels off. Having a third person makes it much much easier too.

I have to run for now, but if you need any other advice, don't hesitate to give me a shout. You can actually go to: www.wingswest.com and click on their Installation page to read the instructions they have,.... but I can tell you from downloading them myself, they're not all that informative. They tell you a lot less than what I just did, but it never hurts to have them there just in case. If you have Acrobat or Adobe or something like that, you can download them. Again, let me know if you need anything else. You might even check RKSport's webpage for instructions since that's where they're from.

Later Bro ~

He-he....well, you just happened to ask the right question at the right time. Considering I just finished installing mine the night before, everything was still fresh in my mind. To be honest with you, when I recieved my kit from wings west, it didn't have any instructions with it, so I down-loaded the the online ones they had. But, after reading them, I was still asking around myself if anyone had any suggestions to help me figure out exactly how they went on.

So, no worries bud.....I'm just glad I was able to pass on this info to someone who needed it. Another perfect example of why this website Rocks......there's always an endless supply of free information and advice, and Most Importantly....."SUPPORT" from our online extended family.

Hit me up again if there's anything else that comes to mind bro ~

Oh wow......I just realized you live in Spokane. I just moved back over here to the Seattle area about 3 1/2 years ago from Moses Lake. Maybe sometime this summer we can hook up somewhere over there and grab a bite to eat. I've been looking for a reason to take a road trip in my car so that I can put some miles on her. If we do, I can always just drive back to Moses Lk. and crash at my ex- old lady's house instead of trying to make it a one day trip.
