02 sensor and cat question?

Hey when I do a tune up on my camaro pretty soon, im going to get new plugs and wires, prob msd 8.5mm wires and ac/delco platinum plugs, but I am also going to replace my 02 sensor by my cat and was wondering which one I need, Is that the pre-cat or post-cat 02 sensor, is it a heated sensor or regular o2 sensor and how many cats are on our ls1's? I just want to know for general information. thanks I appreciate it.

well which o2 sensor do you want to replace? you have 4 of them. 1 on each header, 1 pre cat, 1 post cat. so to answer your question you have 1 cat. And why are you changing just one?

LS1s have 2 cats.
1 o2 sensor in front and 1 behind each cat.
-driver side front o2 is in the manifold, rear is in the cat pipe
-pass side front is in the cat pipe, rear o2 also in the cat pipe if i recall correctly
They are all 4 wire O2s

as for placement they are interchangeable as far as i know, just some have longer wiring leads. My car has no cats or rear O2s anymore, no sims even. they are just turned off in my pcm. And i dont need cats anymore for state inspection.

The front ones are a flat four wire connector. The rear ones are a square 4 wire connector. Also, are they broken? For the cost I wouldnt replace them until they fail and you throw a code. GM charges around $79 each.

Every Camaro 1996 and newer have 2 cats and require 4 o2 sensors, the after cat is most likely to burn out, the heated sensor is something ive never heard of..all i can say is do the work yourself cause a dealer will **** you....and also do your research on your plugs cause sometimes those iridium and titanium plugs can actually do damage instead of help. I know this because I used to own a turbo eclipse (ik ik) and they very pickey on the right type of plugs to use.

Also as you know, an ignition tune up, especially a plug and wire tune up is near impossible, don't do it unless you really want to spend 10 hours removing the plug from cylinder #8

im just going to go with either bosch or ac/delco premium plugs w/ the platinum tips or something like that, im not going to get some off brand 100hp adder spark plugs that burn so hot it puts a hole in my cylinder

ahaha, all im worried about is getting the proper spark with the correct plug to use, I dont care about the super deluxe 10 pronged quadripple max spark enchancement. Its just that I have never changed my plugs and its been way over due...the reason im getting new wires is for the look of the color, the red MSD wires look cool, I dont expect and gains in power except better starts and maintianing proper sparkto each cylinder.

you can get any plugs you want, you just have to gap them to the proper gap. So dont worry about getting the proper spark.
