Exclamation 1995 3.4L Security Lock-out

Hey everyone. I'm a newby here and I'm about to ask a question that others have most likely already asked. My 1995 3.4L V6 (manual tranny) has engaged the security and locked itself down. The starter and injector's will not engage and the SECURITY light is flashing in the dash. How do I reset this? Then what do I need to do to prevent it from happening again? My car is DOA until I can get this reset. :banghead: The car was driving and running fine and suddenly this happened without warning. Nothing was done to provoke this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Could be in valet mode, But it usually doesnt disable it from starting and driving.

You say the starter is not engaging.. Is it even turning over or is it dead? If not check your battery and if thats good move onto the relays.

It is the Security system. The Optima battery is fully charged and working. The fuel system and starting system is shut down. It will not even let me roll it off and pop the clutch.

bad key, bad ignition switch, or a bad relay. Basically you have a vats issue I believe

They had vats in '95? If they did, thats definitely the problem, could be that stupid incredibly fragile wire that it uses. There is a way to by-pass some how, couldnt tell you how though.

I figured that was the issue but is there a way to reset it and get the car home. It broke down at my dads and is still there.

I dont think theres an easy way, I think no matter what you have to pull the ignition out. Maybe Google bypassing vatts or something.

Bypassed the VATS with a resistor and it started up.

Unplugged it down by the brake pedal and had the resistor in the key ohmed out and put a matching in-line resistor in the plug.
