if you compare the costs of swapping a 305 or a 3.4, its pretty similar.... to an extent. when you swap a V8, you need to change fuel pumps, front suspension, computer, wire harness, exhaust, etc. w/ the 3.4, you only need to swap the long block. and w/ a few minor mods, you can easily reach the 305 power. if you go all out, you can get more power out of a 305, but where i sit right now, i can spank 305s. its up to you, how much money you have and what you wanna do. if you wanna go all out, go a 350 or lt1/ls1. if you want some good power plus fuel economy and all that go w/ the 3.4. i wouldnt go 305.

its not any custom work to put in a 3.4. a long block from a 2.8 and a 3.4 are visably the same.

you must mean the short blocks are visably the same. the intake manifolds are different on the two engines.

2.8 makes the same power as the 305 which is best suited as a boat anchor
