A friend of mine tells me that a fourth generation Camaro owner raced him a few years ago and afterwards they hung out and talked it up some. Apparently, the owner of the Camaro had a brand new RS/SS, which I didn't even know was a package deal for fourth gen Camaros. Was this some sort of modification that the guy failed to mention or were there actually some RS/SSes made then??

There were no RS/SS's in the new bodystyle that I am aware of unless it was a custom mod.

I supose if you slapped on the ground effects and emblems of an RS onto an SS you could call it that but there were no factory RS/SS 4th gens. The SS started in 96 and ran all the way threw 02. The RS was an apperance option for earlier 4th gens (94-97 i believe but i could be wrong). SLP did SOME RSs for 00-02 but they were basically apperance with some tweeks for V6s. But no, no RS/SS were factory for the 4th gens.

I was just thinking... Next time they try to pull that out on you... ask them how they got the RS spoiler to fit with their SS spoiler. Then laugh at their stupidity of trying to make up a new 4th gen model.

I never saw the guy or his supposed 4th Gen RS/SS or else I'm sure I would've spotted the fake in an instant. Like I said earlier, a friend of mine told me about this.
