My first thought was that it was probably the bulb, but then I started thinking about the fact my horn wasn't honking after setting the alarm. I know you were haveing this same problem, and I wasn't sure if you ever fixed it, so I returned happily to find out it was in fact the bulb.
Thank goodness for this forum! And I'm glad you got your's fixed as well bud!

yup , when i was waiting for engines class to start i was chillin in the tool room and was looking through the manual for my car and i went under the alarm section and one of them for troubleshooting said:
if lights don't flash, horn doesn't honk and alarm dosen't arm check the alarm led if it dosen't flash the led may be burnt or the led may not be recieving power from the bcm
from this statement i was almost positive that you had to have the led in order to make it work so i ordered it popped it in and it works perfectly
i love these elephants

It turns out my LED wasn't bad to start with. Before I opened the sealed package it came in, I decided to come back and read this whole thread from the beginning. Turns out if you don't have the LED plugged in when hooking the battery back up, it won't reprogram the factory alarm. (hence no blinking LED, no horn honking, no flashing lights) So after going out and unhooking my battery, the LED works just fine.
I just called the dealership to see if I could bring back the unopened package I just picked up, but obviously the "No return on Electrical parts" policy was enforced. I figured it would be, so now I have a new LED to add to the pile of other extra parts I don't need.

It's a very good one that probably get used again if someone does a search on this kind of problem. And you're right about having a spare one.....who knows when I might need another one some day.
