batteries hate being discharged, your components also hate being low on voltage (it tends to cook capacitors and power supplies) low voltage is bad

So on a scale, is charging at 76 instead of 105, is that pretty bad? I just really want to know if I should put the money into it right now. I dont know anything about voltage or charging so Im just wondering in your guys' opinion that know about it if you think I should change it out ASAP.

consider the '69 camaro had an 80 amp alternator with no accessories like radio, and heater delete, and you may get the idea, spend the money

Starter is drawing too much current it sounds like, or bad battery cable

I dont suppose the ECM of a '97 losing power would cause a wipe would it Arch? Im not really sure. But you say all the accessories turn off after you try that first try? Hmm...

Other than that, I dont really know, unless the battery has just managed to kick the bucket.

Tested the battery.. its good. Im just hoping that it could be the starter or positive cable. I dont think those would be too hard to fix. Im shitting myself over here, I have so much to do yet, and now the ****** thing isnt running.

I dont think it would wipe the ecm, ive disconnected both terminals before with nothing. Im just dumb, I always forget wether to disconnect the pos or neg first or second... I dunno why, its easy to remember but I forgoet. Im praying its the starter or somthing simple . I need my car to drive back home.

What happens is if I disconnect and reconnect the neg cable, i turn the key one click (accessory I believe) I can listen to my stereo, have all power. Then I turn it to the next notch, (on i think it is) it just clicks and I lose all power. If I try to turn it back and to on again its still all power gone. I have to reconnect the cable to get power again. Its just one click and then it shuts down.

If anyone has suggestions, I dont care if theyre right. I just want ideas to look for. Right now I really have no idea what to look for. Are there relays, switches, hidden fuses, circuit breaker type deals? Anything simple to start with, then some common most likely problems, secondary problems? just anything really... I need to get my car going

checked all ones in the engine bay, theyre good. Not sure how to check the relays, but those seem like theyre all for abs, coolant fan, ect... nothing for starting the car.

ok weird. I just hooked a battery tester up, it was reading about 12 with nothing on. turned the key to the start or on position and it read a litttle less than 11. So i cranked it over for the hell of it and it turned and turned over so i tried again this time gave it a little gas and it fired up. let it run for a couple mins, disconnected the battery tester, turned it off. went to turn it back on and it did the same thing, click and lose power.

Does that give anyone an idication of anything?
