I think I may have figured it out. I took my battery out and made sure it was still charged up. I came back, and thought I would give the remote start a try. It wouldnt go, then I realized that the hood was up... wont start with the hood up. So I put the hood down, started right up. Let it warm up, powered it down, tried with the key a couple times, worked perfect. I was like WTF. Im thinking this whole time it was safety shutdown from the alarm... which would make perfect sense. criminal cuts power, and its a safety feature to keep the car from starting, after all it was killing the starter, or so it sounded.

As for now its been working, so thats the only solution I can come up with. Its a viper 791xv somthing or other if anyone knows about alarms.

ps. chad did you fubar the site up?

I still say you had a loose battery cable, and when you put it back together it was fixed. If it was the alarm it wouldn't have shut everything down with the key (the underhood pin is a safety thing for mechanics)

yeah but I took the battery in and out several times... It all leads down to the hood was up every time I tried to start it. Possibly would have been a loose cable, but it only tightens to a certain point like any other thread... and I did it the same every time.

Well right now I have my old alt in, and I dont have my stereo hooked up, so its a bit gay.

My question is, are there aftermarket alts I should be looking at with my added weight of the stereo and/or alarm? Im just wondering if a stock replacement should/will be fine with my stereo in there now, or will it kill it shortly? Im gonna try to swap in a new alt here soon at my apt, just wondering if I should stick with a stock replacement or upgrade? TIA.
