AJ is a member here, been here for quite a while. That hood was on the car when he bought it. Here's a link for you, if you really like it and are considering it: http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/picof19ulzho.html .

cowl induction is just a hood with a rise and opening at the base of the windshield if you watch any shows that show wind tunnels you can see the smoke turn at that point

Oh, Thats cool.

I went to aviation school so I'm not really a car guy, but what you saying is this "Cowl Intake" opens a path for air to escape from under the car and uses that airflow for intake?

Seems a bit silly and extreem, but it would catch much less road debris than a ram air intake I guess. Nope, the more I read about this I have to agree that Ram air, and probably Cowl Intake too is more a cosmetic than performance enhancement.

One thing I notice about my car's 3.8 V-6 is that it produces allot of torque between 3500 and 4500 RPM, but it's takeing to long to get there. I think a 10 to 20 horse power boost would dramicaly reduce the time it takes to reach this performance.

1st gear is short as hell. mabey 3 secounds from 0 to 35 and then that shift to secound and it's a long 20 secounds or so to reach 55mph were I'm at max torque. Shifting to third at max torque is another long wait for RPMs to build up before I can go to 4th, and that 5th gear aint much help because I have no more power after that.

Personally, I am not tooled at this point to mount and paint a hood for ram air, cowl air, what ever. But this car is telling me, "I need more air". I can feel it when I drive it, it's sucking to hard. Some how If I can open it up I know I can get it to smoke tires in all gears.

To be Honest, all I want is that kick in the butt feeling one gets driving a hot car with power at your disposal. I think this 3.8 V-6 has awesome potential.

I think my plan should be to keep the car looking as stock as possible and simply unleash the horese in it.

I think I'll go old school. re-do the exaust with two strait ports out the rear with a couple of cherry bombs, and install a high pro header port and polished. Mabey 30 horses if I do all that. What do you think?

Cowl Induction does work. It's not an intake in the sense of something like the K&N FIPK. It's just a hood with a basic opening in the back. Here's a pic:

Now, when driving, the air that travels over the top of your hood, and is sucked back down into the engine compartment through the back of the hood. It's a very good method, but if you want to get some more air into the car, just get something along these lines to help your car get air: http://www.ftpp.net/V6Induction.html . Check out this page, has some induction options for your car, and an idea of what they will cost.

Exhaust is the other good place to start with, too. A good exhaust set-up, some headers, that'll help for more HP. some headers: http://www.ftpp.net/V6/Exhaust/v6_headers.htm

you don't know what you are talking about. It doesn't sound anywhere close to a honda. Not if you do it right. Glass packs are fine.
