There are limited amounts of cam's made for the 3.4, and its a heap of work. Doing it correctly I dont see you getting out for less than $1500.
I cant really talk, considering I drive a 3.8, but I really wouldnt even bother messing with the 3.4 for anything.

If you are doing it yourself, you could do it for about $500-700. Depending on the parts and who tunes it.

This isnt a 'pull it out, put it in' type of job. It requires fine tuning, supporting modifications, alot of beer, and some patience.
Mine is cammed. So im going by experience.
Unless you feel safe tearing down the whole motor and rebuilding it by yourself, I wouldnt even attempt it.

well im the one that has had four years of experience on engines and training to be a GM master tech i know alot about engines and all its not the part of doing the work its the part of the money i want to do somethin to make it quicker and i was thinkin a cam would be a good start valve train isnt hard to do i could do it all in a day i just want to know what i can do to this engine to see a noticable diffrence if you dont think the cam would be a good investment give me some ideas

I love my cam more than anything in my car, but if I had it to do over again, I wouldnt. But ONLY because its my DD.
Im on my 3rd crank (went with a billet one this time), and have already spun two rod bearings.

put a turbo in it other than that there is some head swap from like 3400 gm motors there is a write up on somewhere here on the site i will try to find it sometime or it's a sticky in the V6 section

yea i have talked to the guy with the 3400 swap alot about how to do it and what needs done and thats the plans for the winter time figuring i find a 3.4 for a build engine and a 3400 for a parts engine then drop the build engine in when its done in a day so only bout a day or 2 down time for the car but i figured a cam would help out alot to with all that done thats why i started this thread but everyone says a cam wont do anything

i would do it just for fun to say it has a cam, if my car wouldn't have had so many miles and been crappy that's what i wanted to do to it just for fun, and hell if you can do the labor why not?? it's your car
