Question Check Engine Light - Dealer??

Hey, the check engine light has started showing on my v6 3.8 camaro. The codes that the computer displays are: PO102 for the air flow sensor, PO122 for throttle position switch, PO420 for catalyst. The guy I bought it from had replaced the air flow sensor, so he may have messed up w/ the wiring or similar. I called the dealer, and they sound mucho expensive. My questions are:

Is it possible that all of these are related? I.e. that fixing the sensor would fix the other two?

Also, would you take it to the dealer for this type of work, or do you trust your local greasemonkey to do a better job for the price?

Tnx

being the local greasemonkey you speak of...i am offended.

but yes independent shops are great. dont go to a dealer for anything except getting your radio code reset.

Yea im a part time grease monkey too, i work at advance auto though too but i agree dealers are rip offs, independent ones usually do their best work just for the simple fact that they want you to come back again, a dealer really could give two *****. I know from experience.

local shop can do as good or better work than dealer, if you get a good one, they can also do horrible work (so can a dealer) with a gm car if you want a dealer go to a service plus dealer, gm makes them price shop to keep that designation, plus they get more training, if none in your area, ask a few tow truck drivers who they would use
