Hey arch, i need a new carb. Theres this calculator that tells you what size carb you need by going off cubic inches and rpm you will be seeing. Tells ya carb size for .85VE, tells ya carb size for theoretical 100 percent VE, and then tells ya race size (100 VE x1.1) or somethin like that. Anywayz i put in my motor will see 7 grand. Just to make up for if desktop dyno is off by a little. Race carb it says i need a 900cfm carb. Course nobody makes one next step up is a 950cfm carb. jesus the prices are high. So i went back to the calculator and put in 6500rpm instead of 7000rpm and it gave me a race carb size of 853cfm. So i checked out 850cfm carbs and theyre still high but still about half the price of a 950. So what im getting at is. Desktop dyno says max at 6500rpm (looks that way on teh curve it gives too) so should i go ahead and get the 850. Or play it better safe than sorry and get the 950 and have to cash out like an extra 500 bux.

Also heard anything about those Proform carbs?

proform is a cheap brand go demon, and I would do the 850, or call barry grant (demon carbs) and ask them for a recomendation (maybe do one of their replaceable venturi models then you can change it easy)

I think i can get away with an 850 as well. Hopefully the desktop dyno curve is dead on so that would be perfect. If not i guess itll have to do for now. Plus the price for an 850 is a **** load cheaper than 950s and theres a lot bigger selection. Probably gonna go holley since i had a 650 double pump in the past and i loved it. One question, annualar (sp?) or downleg boosters? Pros and Cons of each? Appreciate it old timer

keep in mind todays holley comapred to holley of 10 years ago is a completely different carb, the new ones are cheaply made and have all kinds of problems, and stay away from edelbrock unlesss you like carb tuning (if you do edelbrock go with at least 1000 cfm)

downleg basically looks like a leg and could potentially block airflow I've been very impressed with the barry grant stuff (he runs his prostock car specifiacally for testing)
