lmao the design of the piping has NOTHING to do with a mufflers flow, a borla does make more power since it is a straight through design, an edelbrock has a chamber that is fiberglass packed that restricts flow, slp I don't know the design for sure (never cut one apart)but I think it's the same as the edelbrock, and if you are changing the muffler change the most restrictive parts also like the pipes

You could, or u could gut a cat, or u could replace with it regular pipe. The possibilities are endless.

why no cat? the new ones flow very well and restrict very little, plus keeps your car legal

yep hear no cats aint gonna get u threw emissions, there starting to use mirrors again to be sure u got em. I dont think flowmasters are most restrictive either, I have seen them put out pretty good numbers.... either way i love my borla:)

archemedes 12-07-2004 01:34 PM

borla is probably best, but also most expensive

cwfblackz28 12-07-2004 11:38 PM

almost there

alright im gonna go with the cats but does the cut out go before or after the cat, and if i put it before it, will i have prob with back pressure.. and kinda dumb guestion but how much is this all gonna cost about,, jet hot lt with a y pipe im not sure what kinda high flow cat whats the best???? cut out and american thunder cat back?? :gears:

Before the Y. if you put it after the Y it basically defeats the purpose of having a cut out.

When headers go on my car I'm removing CAT, car isn't emissions legal with headers anyway.

That only works if you have long tubes-if you run mid-lengths then you would have to run it after the y.

The main purpose of the cut-out is to eliminate the restriction of the exhaust. You will obviously lose the backpressure and the low-end torque but will gain the top-end horse.

Bah to all you saying true duals give clearance problems.

A friend of mine has a 93 Z28 with a built 383 LT1 stroker in it, and he has true duals with dynomax bullets dumping at the axle. He has no clearance issues, and if you know what my city is like (Winnipeg), we have the WORST roads EVER. Take an American city that is known for its shitty roads, let a Winnipegger drive through it, and we'll rant and rave how your roads are so awesome. No lie.

Having said that, go true duals with an H-pipe. While an x-pipe yields slightly more power, an H-pipe cancels out the higher frequencies in the exhaust, giving you a deep, rumbly, mess-in-your-pants-good sound.

well i drive over speed bumps at school everyday but i really want dual exhaust !!!!!!

and what is a good set up for my car if there is one out there??

Try TSP, they have true-dual setups on the site.
