uhh i think taking it out from the top is easier. if you take it out from the bottom you have to have a big lift and drop the k member and all the front suspension. never done it that way but just my guess.

That's exactly how the 4th gens come out. Very easily as Chad said.

yea, 4th gens come out the bottom because 1/2 of then engine is under the cowl... they have to drop the whole front subframe....

out the top W00T!!! its very possible to pull a motor outa a 4th gen from the top, at least LT1s. i know for a fact Fastbird93 over on Speeddensity.org has done it numerous times.

its possible either way but i think its easier from the bottom its just u take everything basically with it including suspension, k member etc. u basically pull the k member out the bottom with everything still on it

Umm...it can be done out the top in a 4th with just a simple cherry picker. I did it myself not to long ago- as a matter of fact, it only took about 3 hours once we decided to pull the motor till it was out on the engine stand with the tranny on another table.

I honestly don't think it would have been that much shorter to take it out the bottom. If you are limited in total shop space, go out the top. If you go out the bottom then you either set the car on jack stands and roll the suspension back under the car or leave it in the middle of the floor to trip on. Not to mention I don't know how easy it is to line all the suspension parts back up again- at least out the top all you have is two motor mount bolts.
