Engine Swap

What all is needed for me to go from a 3.8 to a LS1? Because I decided that I really like the look of my car, it just isnt fast enough.. So Id rather put an LS1 in my car than buy a different car all together.. Could I get some help?

The tranny will not work. The V6's and V8's have different bolt patterns.

the exhaust may if you've changed the size, the stock v6 exhaust would choke a v8.Easiest way to do the swap(and truthfully most cost effective) is buy a whole craddle from a v8 car.Change the cooling system(radiator on a v8 is bigger than the v6)

Kinda like arch said I would honestly say the most cost effective would be to buy a totaled LS1 and swap all the parts...that way you will only have minimal parts to buy.

I agree, back when I had my V6 I thought about doing the swap and after a lot of research that's what I decided to do. Well until I found a Z28 with a good asking price at least

Why not just save your self the time and the head aches and just supercharge the car, headers, a trans go shift kit in your case, torque converter, a full cat back system so the cars exhaust can run smooth and I bet you will be giving a LS1 a good run for his money. Think about it this way its rare to see a 3.8l Supercharged on the streets you can atleast hold that title. Plus that good noise from the supercharger to scare off preditors. I have a friend with a 3.8 that has headers, X-pipe, SLP CAI, and a few other bolt ons and he is beating LT1's at the drags. not to forget hes a bad *** driver. Your car has better potental then his. Just something to think about...

Peace..

Im with you im going to build up my 6 im aiming for 12s I mean sure a LS1 can get that no prob but for me to go from 15 to a 12 is a accomplishment. But there just those who see it is a waste so they do a swap.
