Finally got money for exhaust - Need help deciding
I've finally got the money to afford an exhaust so now I'm faced with a decision that I might need some help with, What kind should I get?
I've had friends recommend SLP loudmouth, and magnaflow which are both in my price range, can anyone tell me which sounds better, which adds more hp, and/or which is more reliable? or if anyone has any other ideas for a brand in the same price range?
Thanks alot guys,
-Ethan

Either one of those would be a great choice. Most cat-backs add roughly about the same HP. Just stay away from flowmaster in my opinion. The only time you will notice any huge difference in power is if you run true duals or something of that nature. I personally like the sound of a Loud mouth over a Magnaflow, but the Magnaflow is stainless I believe. If it were my car, I would buy a Loud Mouth and replace the resonator with a stainless chambered muffler. I am biased though

yep yep. i agree. i would go loudmouth, and although ive never heard a chambered muffler on one, ive heard great things abuot them(like Gentner said) or put a dynomax bullet in place. either way it will sound nice with manifolds.

TSP Rumbler is also a nice sounding exhaust and its easy on the budget as well. I wouldn't worry about which adds more horse, when it comes to exhaust to most people it should be $$ and sound which are most important. You're not going to notice if one frees up 7hp and the other frees up 9hp. They are all typically pretty close when it comes to a mild car.

im sorry, but i could never justify spending over 400 for a catback section of exhaust piping and a muffler. a custom exhaust shop can make one fit very nicely for around 150-200 with your choice of muffler or no muffler at all like i plan, just a bullet. personally i think they are all just names and not much in performance, all sounds obviously.

I had the muffler section replaced at Midas on the G/F car and luckily I was there to tell the guy that the pipes were 4" off and not even close to centered.
If you buy a kit you can at least put it on yourself and make sure everything is tight and not hitting anything, and make sure your pipes are aligned correctly..

yea thats the benefit, but like you said, as long as its a good shop that cares about it. my dads friend took his 70 Dart stockcar to an exhaust shop for a custom exhaust, the guy installed one side, showed it to him, he said it looked great but the installer actually said it was close but he wants to redo it. thats a shop you go to.hehe
