need help deciding engine..
hey i have a b16 in my car right now and i want to start maming some serious horsepower. i'm going to pick up a turbo shortly and want to know your opinions.
1. stay with the b16 and do some work on the bottom end to lower the compression so its safe to run 18-20 PSI or....
2. buy a GSR block and build that and turbo the GSR?
i've seen guys running 450hp on their b16's so thats why im thinking of just keeping the b series but whats your opinion on this?

since you already have a b16, i say build that. a gsr is best for boost, but then you gotta buy the motor, and then build it... more expenses... yea, i've seen those large hp b16s, not sure on what they're setup is though

werd. stick with what you got...you're already gonna be spending enough to build it. and the bigger combustion chamber in the b16 head makes it a little easier to drop your compression.

boost the b16, *** throw in more stroke from mayb a
B17 sized crank if u'd wanna find a little more torque too,
keep in mind, you wont be able to use the same connecting
rods if u do put a B17 sized crank in. You'd need B17 rods too.
More or less if u did that, u'd have a B17.

what kind of turbo u thinkin of puttin on the B16?
what A/R???

do the b16+ boost.
maybe you can find a good deal on a GSR block and use that aswell.
Just 1 thing. If your gonna boost it, do it right the first time. Buy good quality parts, good quality tuner, and EMS.

well, what i would do is leave the motor in the car right now and drive it around and have it just as a reliable ride, unless you have another car thats a dd. I would then wait it out and source the cheapest long block, eninge, short block. Take the time and build that engine properly with no shortcuts. You never know what engine you could find for cheap. This way you can minimize the down time on the car and gather all your parts together. This may take a bit of time, but at the same token you may come to realization of what you want.
i would personally go with a b16 just because its cheaper.

get the gsr block and make it a type r!
GSR Block+B16 Head=TYPE R (B18C5)
GSR Block+B16 Head=TYPE R (B18C5)
You should stick with your B16, they can make big power done right. Buying a GSR when you already have a B16 is a waste of money.

in addition, if you're gonna do a high psi boost setup you'd have to swap out the rods and pistons for forged ones anyways so the only added benefit of doing the gsr would be the crank. the blocks are almost identical. just stick with the b16. it'll save you a whackload of dough.
i have a b16 block and crank i'm looking to get rid of in the near future. lemmie know if you're interested.
