Got my SS hood

EDIT:Ok so I got my SS hood last week and it looked awesome, but I got my car back today and they def rushed the paint and body work. There are a couple of bubbles in the paint (that will most likely pop open), plenty of waves, and some sanding scratches. I will take some pics tomorrow because it was raining today. I was so pumped to get it back with the hood on, and then so pissed off when I saw the job they did. Luckily my dad is friends with the owner of the body shop so they are going to redo it for free, but that will be another week without my car:banghead: . Did anyone else who did a hood swap for fiberglass have any of the same paint issues? You can barely see the waves in these pics and I didn't take close ups of the bubbles, but I promise they're there.

thats lame.

For real! I was so pissed! I'm like you've had my car for a week while I've had my wisdom teeth cut out and couldn't drive, now it's time to get it back and you've ****** it up!

yeah there was a guy that used to be on here alot he had a white Z28 and i rememeber he had a hell of a time with his fiberglass hood it took them quite a while to get it right

MyFirstCamaro 06-19-2007 09:56 AM

but didnt it take him close to a year to finally get it sized cut and then he decided to bring it somewhere else

I did a hood swap, but it wasnt a fiberglass one. Sorry to hear about your troubles, hope everything gets worked out ok.

MeenZ28 06-19-2007 04:45 PM

I've been threw a few fiberglass hoods and NEVER had that much trouble. I'm sorry bro.

thats gay is their anyreal good body shops out their?

Bernotas05 06-19-2007 06:58 PM

My hood still isnt painted still rockin the gel coat, well havt drove the car in over a year so I dont care im in no rush. That sucks though man hopefully they will get it right this time.

A-RoN'sZ 06-19-2007 07:07 PM

Yea it sucks! I'm carrying it back to them tomorrow so that they can DO IT RIGHT this time! And I guess if they screw it up again I'll do the body work myself and then carry it back and have them paint it a third time. My dad and I did all the work on the Pontiac we restored and it turned out very slick IMO for a couple of amateurs lol. The same body shop did that paint job, but like I said we did the body work. Do they make a factory looking SS cowl that's metal???

blue89vert 06-19-2007 07:54 PM

that really sucks. they better do it the right way for free

A-RoN'sZ 06-19-2007 08:53 PM

Yea the owner is a friend of my dad's so they will redo for free, but it's still a hassle to be without my car for a few days. The owner does very, very good work, but his employees are uh...not as skilled. My dad is telling his the friend, the owner, to do the work himself this time.

I hate to double post, but I added some images today to my original post at the top. They're not great and don't reflect the blemishes well, but something to look at and the first images of my Z.

CheM 06-19-2007 09:24 PM

I'm sure the pictures don't show the blemishes, but it's a good looking car anyway.

Thanks man. The car itself is in really good shape I think for being 9 years old. There are only a couple of scratches on the body and they aren't really noticable unless you're looking for them. The pics I took don' t really reflect the waves, etc. in the hood either. I'll try to take some tomorrow in the sunlight when I carry it back over there and see if they show up better.
