I need RAP
well tonight i left my DRLs on and now my battery is dead. the DRLs are wired to the same power wire as the fan and the antenna, and both of those only work when the key is on, so i'm wondering why the DRLs stay on when the key is off. so to make things easier, does anyone (arch) know which wire i can wire the switches to that uses RAP (retained accessory power) so that the DRLs go off when i open my doors.

Why not just put them on a switched power source from the main fuse box under the hood?? That way they will only be on when the ignition is on? Then you would have nothing to worry about...

I think you are goin in the right direction...
What the relay will do for you is allow you to have a heavy duty power source hooked up to your drl's and only need a small amount of current to turn the lights on.
Its hard to explain but go to any local auto parts store- they should have them-around $5 I think. It should be a little black box about 1"x1"x1" with 5 blades to attach wires to on the one side. There is a diagram on the box to show you what wires go where. Once you figure out which power source you are going to use you should be all set and never have to worry about leaving them on.

WHOA!!!!! today i pulled into my driveway and i noticed the fog light indicator light was on...so i looked, and the fog lights were on with my DRLs, yet the headlamp switch was off. then i turned my car off, and the headlamp reminder was dinging, even though all that was on were my DRLs. so i turned the DRLs off and the ding stopped, turned them back on and the ding came on!!! so somehow my ECU knows that lamps are on so it gives the ding and allows the fog lamps to be on. somehow i have factory compatible aftermarket DRLs!!!

great...i just figured out...the DRL switch turns on the DRLs meaning the bright element of the bulb like its supposed to, and the parking lights. which means the taillights, dash lights, and both bulbs in the corner lense. so thats why theres a ding. for some reason the DRLs were working fine 5 minutes before and the switch just turned on the bright element of the bulb. now its turning the whole parking lights thing on.
