looking for most performance with 1000

i gotta grand and i wanna get my 3.8 up to 300hp i was wondering if this is possible my turbo install wont be till after the first of the year sometime in the summer but i am getting a grand for Xmas and i need some suggestions on what to buy to get the most power i prolly have about 220 to 230 and it is a auto so suggestions plz

What are your current mods? Because unless you have some major non bolton mods, your not breaking 200 hp.

With 1000, the only way to get anywhere near 300hp is nitrous.

what do you have done so far?

I can tell you now I dont think youll get 300hp with 1k... unless you use nitrous.

Do nitrous, you'll love it and you'll easily get 300+ hp with a 75-100 shot

well i have a full catback system but no headers so i was going to get headers and then ive got a cold air intake and a few other things to the motor so basically nitrous is the only way to go??? cuz i dont wanna stress the engine to much

to get to 300 hp nitrous is the cheapest method, to get better than you are now, headers, cam, and tune will help

well if i threw a extra 500 bucks in could i possibly obtain the headers cam and nitrous????? and how much power would i get out of those three things? im worried about the wear on the motor becuz of nitrous

A cam install is $2500+

Headers will only give you 5hp or so on a v6.

Nitrous is dangerous for the motor, but its the only way your going to get to 300hp under around $5,000.

PS - The highest N/A 3.8 is 270ish hp.

Hate to tell ya, but $500 wont get you very far unless you can intstall the items yourself. Headers alone are ~$250 uncoated + ~$300 for install. With $500 I'd just save up a lil more and get nitrous. If you dont want spray then just start saving for a Powerdyne.

He said hes already getting it turbo'd, but idk.

$1500 wont get you far horsepower wise unless you go nitrous, thats your only real option.

A realistic way to look at it, money-wise, imagine this ratio.

$50 = 1 horsepower.

MONEY!!

Depending on how much boost you want to run, you'll need:

forged interals (rods, pistons)
studded heads
LOTS of tuning
fully built tranny
12 bolt rear end
all new, upgraded suspension
high performance heads with upgraded valve train
turbo cam (not 100% necessary, but it will maximize the power of the turbos)
more tuning
custom fabricated headers or custom turbo y-pipe
intercooler
custom fabricated intercooler piping
42# lb/hr fuel injectors
new MAF

and oh yeah, more tuning

You'll be looking to spend up to $15,000-$20,000

A single turbo with < 10 psi will be a lil cheaper but still plan on spending about $5000-$6000 for it.

Gotta remember, when you add things like twin turbos, you will need to upgrade/modify the rest of the car to handle the extra power.

For some reason I cant edit my last post so I'm making a new one to add on to it.

You wont need as much $$ for a single T3/T4 turbo cuz they dont produce as much horsepower thus you wont NEED new heads, cam, forged rods/pistons, rearend, tranny, as much tuning or fabrication work. You will still need all the piping to be custom though which is what is the most expensive.

I still think you are better off with a 75 wet shot of nitrous cuz turbo cars are crazy high maintanence. If this is your DD, I dont recommend going turbo.

Wrong. Pacesetter dynoed a stock v6 with there headers only and showed a 12rwhp gain.

Horsepower isnt EVERYTHING when it comes to a race on a track to see how fast your car is...alot of other factors as well. You can have 400hp and weigh alot and loose to a car much lighter and less hp then you.
