looking for most performance with 1000

lol yea pretty much everyone said it already so i wont say it again, but if ur gonna add a bunch of power with a twin turbo setup u will have to put more money into the car just to handle the power than u will on the actual turbo system, cause its kinda pointless to have a huge turbo setup then step on the gas for the first time and blow ur engine, tranny, and rear end, not to mention the engine internals that would be jacked up with a ton of boost, also if u try to do the system without upgrading stuff like ur fuel system, then u wont get nearly the numbers ur probably gonna wanna get out of it

Wrong. A v6 owner in Florida only paid a grand to get one in.
Who told u that? Or where did u see this?
Horsepower isnt EVERYTHING when it comes to a race on a track to see how fast your car is...alot of other factors as well. You can have 400hp and weigh alot and loose to a car much lighter and less hp then you.

Yes, maybe someone did pay a buddy a grand to put one in in flordia. But when I mean 'cam install' im talking about the supporting mods that go WITH a cam install, lifters, springs, etc.
Visit the camaro v6 boards, look at the dyno sheets.

I have heard of several people getting a gain of around 10 hp with headers on a v6, I pretty sure that was calculated from rwhp to crank hp though.
I have been quoted several times for a cam/lifters/spring parts + install to be $1700-$2000. $2500 sounds a lil high, but believable. It depends on the shop and your area. However, I highly doubt any shop anywhere will do it for $1000 with parts included. That guy in FL probably got charged $1000 just for labor.

I work at a shop. I did my own cam install. I know the work involved, it will take every bit of 1k in labor. So I definately agree with ya Shodown.

money is not going to be an issue on this car and right now it is my DD but im getting the new Maro when it come out and fully redoing the maro i have now but would it be less money (and i no that i will have to replace the rear end) if i get a LT1 and dropped it in cuz i no that i can get one alot cheaper than 15000 20000 but im lookin for the most power and if i do this whole setup with the 3.8 im going to want atleast 500 if not more so if thats possible to achieve then im stickin with it but if not then ill just drop a 8

And youngMaroman, for the love of God, please use at SOME puctuation. Your posts are difficult to read without it. I'm not trying to be a ****, but it would make it a whole lot easier for the rest of us.

like i said before, money is not a problem. Im just wanting 500hp and ill do what ever to get it. If i can get it out of the 3.8 for under 20000 then im going for it. IF not then i will go with the 8. Hows the puctuation???????? lol

And btw... how are dyno sheets going to help you prove your point that horsepower is everything? All dynos do is show you horsepower... Its not showing any races won, or 1/4 times. Horsepower isnt everything... LIke Jason said, take a 5000 lbs truck and a 3000lb car with the same horsepower. I can tell you who will win.

I was thinking the exact same thig Paar. Why are you going for a horespower figure rather than a 1/4 time???
Who cares how much power it has, I want to know how FAST it is
BTW, your puntuation is much better! Lol.

Basically, if i can have a 500hp 3.8 camaro for under that figure im going to do it. My buddy can pretty much fab up anything i need. He has been doing this for about 10 years now. So money and labor isnt a prob, but i do want u guyz opnion on which turbos to get?? and also if i do get this Nitrous system, wut do i need to make sure that my motor doesnt wear to bad before the turbos are installed??

I would also just recommend getting an 8. I think you'd be happier. Those that mod a 6 as much as we do, have to be a little insane, and in love with our cars to stay with a 6. I'd go with an 8 before you delve too much money into the 6.
