you've never seen untreated paint I'll bet (every car that comes from the dealer has a treatment done) I have painted cars and pulled them outside with no work done and they beaded what your comparing to is neglected paint oxidized paint or paint with old wax won't bead (you wax a car once unless you strip it you can't stop waxing)

Werd, if only I had pictures of MY car today when I got outside. Mind you, this is after downpours, sprinkling, and normal rain on and off all day... I got outside to my car and not only was it dry but it was CLEAN with very very minimal amount of dirt... no wet spots nothing...

Yeah, but what I was saying is that it might still bead but it still collected on your car, whereas on my car it almost 100% (if I had to estimate I'ds ay 95% of it, the 5% being the rear bumper) of the car was dry and spotless because the water had ran off.

in my opinion one is too many, at least once a year you need to wash with dish soap that will strip most of the wax off, on a white car you can put more before it's noticable on a black car it will start to haze after a while (detailers love it gives them a reason to wheel your "oxidized" paint)

if you havent had problems yet youre lucky. Most carnuba waxes start to haze after three coats on darker colors. If you are doing three coats every week... youve got a lotta wax on there. If you want to treat your paint that often, I would highly suggest going with something synthetic like Zaino... but even that will haze with too many coats, it will just take a LOT longer. Ive done 6 coats in one weekend on my car (black) and had no hazing.

that being said, as a detailer i think you are going way overboard. I put 4 coats of zaino on my car early april and it lasted the ENTIRE season, and I washed my car at least once per week over the summer. As long as it is properly maintained with the quick detailer, theres no need to routinely add layers. Also, three coats lasted the entire duration of last winter on my truck with NO maintainance whatsoever. Im not trying to brag up zaino or anything, but three layers of meguiars is good for a LOT longer than one week.

So is it a cleaner or not?
Meguiar's Gold Class is not a cleaner wax, per se, but does have some cleaning properties, as it is not excatly a "carnuba" wax either. Gold Class is more of a polymer-type sealant, which gives much better protection than a traditional carnuba wax, and though it has a carnuba blend in the mix, it is not it's main ingredient. Being that it is polymer based, there are some resins in the mix that do act as cleaning agents. It won't totally clean the paint, like a cleaner wax will, but it will remove some surface contaminates.
As far all polymer sealants, Gold Class does not (but is recommended) require a polish before application. Traditional carnuba waxes do, because it will not bond to a contaminated paint surface. The trade off is that a polymer sealant, though giving a very high shine, lacks the depth of color look and the gloss that a carnuba wax gives off. Also, polymer sealants have a low jetting factor (wet look) to them.
