odd noise

Okay, this is really bugging the **** out of me.

A couple days ago while we were having our snow storm, I started hearing a wierd noise. The best way I can describe it is a whistling, a whirring, and a whining all in one. It almost sounds like those vortex footballs in a way. Ive been trying to diagnose when it happens, and it happens between 5 and what I thought like 35-40 but it gets pretty windy at those speeds so its probably still happening above 40.

At first I thought hey maybe its just snow packed around my wheels, or somewhere else, but i kicked all the snow off around the wheels today, thats not it. Then I thought it was while I accelerated only, but seems like I could possibly be hearing it slightly when I let off, and I also heard it while I was coasting around a corner downhill into my apt tonite.

I dunno what it could be... Its while I accelate prmarily/only and it seems like its loudest between 5-35/40.. I havent noticed any loss in power, and I cant hear it while Im just idling or revving... Pretty gay, springs around the corner and now my cars shitting out. **** life.

Paar.

Goto your nearest highway, and get up to highway speeds and tell me what it sounds like.

Its windy/cold... Its still there, but not as loud. Its the same exact noise though.

I roll down my windows in town and listen to it.. It almost sounds like theres more noise coming from the engine than usual (besides the noise Im referring to) Like more air rushing, but then again I cant be so sure cause its windy/cold.

Like I said, the best way I can describe it is similar to a vortex football. whooshing/whirring/a slight whistling. Its all of those together.

Other guys on a forum suggested my alt. but its charging the same, guauge is reading the same. another suggested tranny. tahts about all anyones said so far... still in the dark.

If your describing a whining noise, and its your alternator, it would be the bearings in the pulley on it. You could pop your hood at idle and hear it quite clearly.

Honestly, im thinking its your tires. If the noise gets worse the faster you go...

But its hard to judge a noise complaint when I havnt heard the noise, and cant judge the speeds its at, nor its location.

Now, if its a slight whine, more of a grind/whine when you clutch, or when you let off of the clutch and accelerator, and the noise is coming from the center console, I would think that a possiblity for your clutch. Or even your clutch master cyl. But it really doesnt sound like thats what your describing.

As per the tranny... I really really doubt that would be it.

Someone mentioned a vacuum leak... which I thought of before. It does kinda sound like rushing air besides that noise. I just wish I could hear it at idle... I only listened once a few days ago,but I revved it up pretty high and didnt hear it.

its driving me ******* banana sandwich. I cant have noises and broken sounding ****. At least Im getting my EGR leak fixed this weekend
