Performance Headers

Anyone recommend a good brand for performance headers for LT1? Also would it be better to do headers or cam first?

Thanks

headers are definitely easier, and when you do a cam its alwasy good to have headers, so i'd start there.

as for what headers to get, im fond of pacesetter ceramic coated long tubes, but those are $430...not bad for ceramic coated long tubes...but they are tricky to install, not only cuz its tight in there but cuz you'd need to modify your exhaust to fit since they arent made for a direct swap. if you want shorties/mid length headers slp makes a good set but those are pricey...

I would say headers first for sure. Also check for some edlebrock and BBK mids. Of the two I would lean towards the BBK's, they are a little easier to install. I had a little trouble snakin the edelbrocks in even though they are mids, the BBK's were much easier.

My vote for mids has to go with Mac Midlength headers, easy install and good gains.

For average LT's I would look at Dynatech, good on ground clearance and give impressive gains.

Now if you want to shell out the big bucks then I would look at Kooks headers.

The Hooker Headers IMO, SLP is to expensive for my taste....headers are expensive period.

SLP headers are over rated and Hookers are nice but kill ground clearance.

why you say that? they advertise 30 rwhp but thats bull, my cars still slow. plus since the #1 primary bolts to the rest of the system the head flange never lines up right...

something I've always been told is no matter what brand, look at the flange a thick flange is better than a thin one

Have you put your car on the dyno since you installed the headers? The 30 RWHP is probably under the best of conditions with a good tune helping in the back ground. You of all people should know better then to believe what a performance company tells you. You sure you cannot fell no gains in power cause I know for a fact you can feel a difference on an LT1 car when you install a CAI. I highly doubt a CAI helps an LT1 breathe better then a set of mid length headers. I have heard of Macs being difficult to install but the problems cannot be that bad since the headers get an overall good review from most people who use them.
