To get an accurate reading, the purple wire must be spliced into the 02 sensor wire as close to the actual sensor as it can get. The instructions tell you splice before the stock GM plastic connector. (Where the 02 sensor wires connect to the pcm wire harness) Then the other two wires are just a switched 12v+, and a ground.

u are not suppose to connect it close to the o2 sensor that is bad, if u read the packet on the guage it says do not splice close to the o2 or to the o2 wire u are suppose to splice to the signal wire not the actualy wire. i spliced mine into the signal wire on the pcm, i think it was red pin # 8 take out your pcm unhook the red harness and see if the # 8 pin is purple im pretty sure that is the one i used

2Poor4Z is an unknown quantity at this point
umm i did mine right about 3 inches up from the actual sensor. has worked great for over a year. you are supposed to do it close to the actual sensor. it may vary from gauge to gauge tho

That's what I was trying to say too. Mine has been hooked up like that for over two years now and it has always been very accurate. But Maybe each set of instructions is different.
