As far as i know the hood isn't funtional to begin with. It's mainly for looks. Like how the SS hoods have the plumbing on the underside of the hood to dirrect the air to the intake, that one is just like a cowl hood where's it's clean underneth. I could be wrong though. Do you have the hood yet and if so, post a pic of the underside.

isn't that the one brian just got? If so it's not functional, and cutting the front will do more harm than good I think, you could add some ducting to the back and make it functional

Like arch said you can cut out the front of the scoop and put some ducting into your intake but I honestly don't think that would be worth it.

thanks for all the replies..i was just asking because i was talking to the guy who helped me install the hood and he told me that i can get a different air filter casing that would make the cowl more worth while..i looked all over online and all i could find was ones for TPI and i belive mine is TBI..(correct me if im wrong)

the underside of the hood has a passage out toward the window....not in the front..ill try to get some pics of it..i just got it on the car and im looking around to get the whole car painted.

towards the front is the useless ones (that is a low pressure area at speed) does yours have a regular round air cleaner?if so check for the 1st gen cars they had functional cowl induction

no what you need is rubberand an air cleaner housing for cowl induction (if that hood has the built in ducting which I doubt) what you want it to seal teh air cleaner to teh hood, there is a sheet metal scoop for dragsters that may be adaptable. this may be workable

do you think what im looking to do would be worth all the effort? or will it not make that big of a differance anyway? i was talking to another one of my friends and he said that i should put my money and time into somthing else for the car that will make a bigger differance

cowl induction does more than a regular intake, but not a ton (it does a ton more than ram air though)depends on you, do you like making things work? if so go for it, if you want everything to fit like it was designed for teh car, move on
