should i buy this camaro ?
there is a 1993 camaro z28 for sale near me. it is an m6 with around 110k miles on it. the kid put 3.73 gears in it but didnt adjust the speedo so it says it has 128k miles. he said its in real good shape other than a scuff on the rear bumper. he says there is a small crack in one of the exhaust manifolds and when the car heats up it expands the header and seals the crack. the biggest part that scares me is that he has a 125 shot of nitrous on it. he said that it runs good though. he also blew the rear end somehow but he says he will fix that before he sells it. he is asking $3000 for it.
here are some pictures of it

i also realize that in 93 they had batch fire injection and they didnt use a mass air flow? whats up with that and why did they change over to sequential port injection?

If it's in pretty good condition I think that's a really good price. To bad he didn't adjust the speedo so it says it has more miles than it really does.
Matt would know the most about the '93 difference since he's owned both a '93 and a '97 LT1.

Honestly, it would depend on the character of the seller if I bought it or not. The nitrous would make me uneasy, because done correctly, it would be fine, but if it wasnt, there would be alot of little problems you cant initially see.
I think i'd rather buy a stock car than get a modded one. I know around here you can pick up a 96 or lower with around those miles for 3-3.5k all day long.
And as per the rear end, what does he mean he tore it up, i'd have to have some more specifics. Did he destroy the carrier? Or just a pinion bearing or something simple?

yeah iam not exactly sure what he blew in the rear end. iam gonna look at it sometime this week though. as far as i know its a stock motor with nitrous that was just recently put on. he bought a 96 supercharged camaro so he is selling his 93

the nitrous would definently scare me especially if he blew out something in the rear.. usually a result of bad nitrous operation or just in general driving thats bad on the car..
the price isnt terrible but.. id just be weary man

too much for the car in the condition he'd deliver it in. Realize few people fix stuff right when they have a guy buying the car, also realize, it has 128k on it no matter what he says you always go by whatever number is highest (when you register it, they may check the mileage, and will go off odometer not what they are told in most states) in good condition your looking at an $1800 car (book value) at a dealer $2500 on trade in it's worth about a grand. Find one not being sold by an enthusiast (they ask double value) and don't get value from enthusiast sites, as many of the members have inflated values for the cars. Remember it is a 14 year old used car, it is not a classic, and not a collectible car, there are alot of them out there for less money in better shape.

And you will be happy you did. I got mine from the second owner (lol the original owner actually was a grandme and she put like 15k on the car) who drove it about 50-60 miles a day on the freeway to and from work. It had 90,000, but was bone stock and in great shape, completely unmolested. If you find a stocker that been well taken care of, you will come out much better than buying one someone has already beaten to death IMO.

Hi, sorry to bring on this post again.
Theres a guy (a mechanic) that's selling a A/T 95 z28 in about 6500 USD (considering that in Mexico a stock regular camaro costs like 3000-3500).
The engine has some mods, forged heads, complete msd ignition system, flowmaster, 2 Nx wet nitrous bottles with programmer, etc, just to mention some of them.
The exterior is in quite good condition everything is in place, has 17"rims with slicks. He runs here at town in the quarter mile and uses the nitrous with 150hp. Obviously here we don't have the mega cars like the one's i've seen in the USA, but he is one of the best, i think his time is around 12.8-13-5s. I've seen him kill the latest corvettes.
He is selling it because of some $$$ problems, what do you think about it???
PD He changed several times the rel of the differential and blew it again and again. He now has return to stock relation. The car is like 100,000miles.

Iceman2k, WTF are Forged heads, and running on slicks with a stock rear, it is on borrowed time, and may already be headed south. more than likely the reason that the rear on the 93 mentioned above went. And for the OP, This car sounds like a young guy that picked the car up for cheap, slapped a nitrous kit on it, and some sticky tires, and dogged the sh*t out of the car. And correct me if i'm wrong, but is it really good to run nitrous with a manifold leak? wouldn't one worry about burning up valves?
